It's bodybuilding, it's muscle building, it's health and fitness building. That's why we go to the gym. And it's fun! And that is why I personally have been lifting in the gym for 50 years. Jade Parnell in our photo shoot however is building better than most! 

At once both strong and beautiful! It never ceases to amaze me that our world of bodybuilding and fitness brings us some of the most extraordinary women in the world. Figure competitor Sasha Brown from one of our photo shoots. 

I find it completely impossible to find enough words to describe Cara Jo Basso here in one of our past photo shoots. Cara has been a overall figure winner at Muscle Beach and been featured on the cover of Iron Man Magazine.

Here are a few words anyway... Beautiful, unique, stunning, creative, fun, talented, optimistic, chameleon, enthusiastic, adventuresome, intelligent and so very special! My buddy Cara Jo Basso...! 

I am often asked how long have I been a photographer. Well I guess this early photo of me at work might answer that question! It looks like I used to dress better too LOL!

Amy is my hero! She has been, going back to when I first selected her as an Iron Man Magazine BodySpace Physique of the Month. Actually before that because she was one of the most admired and enthusiastic people in the BodySpace community on Bodybuilding.com.

To start out, she is the Mom of 6 and a Grandma! She went from very not fit to fit. When she did her photo shoot with me for the feature, I learned what gracious and kind person she truly is. She overcame quite a lot in her life and wen on to stand on stage at the National level USA NPC competition in 2010! A truly great person who knows that lifting works! Amy Sedlatschek, a friend to huge numbers of people on BodySpace as AmySuds!

No I was not the photographer for this ad... LOL! I doubt that many of you remember ads like this. As kids we would see these in the back pages of comic books. This one is coincidentally from 1962, the same year I started lifting weights. Yes... 50 years ago!

Other 1962 milestones in the world of bodybuilding... It was the year that Arnold says he started lifting seriously at the age of 15. It was the year former Mr. Olympia Dorian Yates was born. And it was the year Olympia legend Lenda Murray was born. Wow! Too fun! And I am still lifting big!

It is starting! I can tell from all the phone calls and e-mails I am getting from competitors getting ready, scheduling photo shoots with me and kicking it up into high gear! The year of bodybuilding and fitness shows is on the way. The Los Angeles FitExpo is only 10 days from today and then the Arnold is around the corner. Very exciting!

Makes me smile and laugh! IFBB Professional Bodybuilder Tina Chandler in an out-take during our photo shoot. So often when we do photo shoots in the gym we typically go for the almost erotic. But this photo reminds me of why so very many of us go to the gym. We have fun! We love lifting weights, we love the environment being around other people who lift, we love the challenge!

And few represent rising to the challenge as much as Tina Chandler! You will see her soon again at the upcoming Arnold, Ms. International Competition in Columbus Ohio! Makes me smile! 

I was absent from my BodyBlog here as I built up my Facebook page and following. I will say that it has been a successful endeavor. I have over 4500 friends, it has been noticed so much that I am being featured in Shutterbug Magazine in a feature about using social networking for professional photographers. And I received a note from a community college instructor of photography telling me that he uses my Facebook page as an example of how photographers can use Facebook also to build their business and following. Very Cool!

So I will be back to work here too, hopefully sharing interesting aspects of my photography. And be sure to check in on my Facebook page too! Thanks!

I am equally excited to have my photograph of Doug Brignole on the cover of his book and to see Doug's book about to be published!

Doug is a legend in the fitness world. He competed as a bodybuilder from the age of 16 to recently at 51. His knowledge of weight-lifting, exercise and diet is beyond compare. His study and recall of the history of bodybuilding and the industry is encyclopedic. And his enthusiasm and good nature is boundless.

Congratulations Doug Brignole! And everyone be looking for "Million Dollar Mu$cle" - "A Historical and Sociological Perspective of the Fitness Industry"! You will be seeing it real soon! 

Of all the photographs I have shot for Bodybuilding.com for their advertising, features, stories, assignments; this magazine ad is one of my all time favorites.

I had not yet done a casting for this concept and actually it was not scheduled yet. But I had Maria Rogers in front of my camera for something else entirely when I knew that she was perfect for this concept. You never know! 

Alicia Renee Harris has appeared on the stages of the Olympia and Arnold and will be again be competing for the title Ms. Figure International at the Arnold only a few weeks away.

Known for her smile which not only lights up a room but lights up your heart. A mind with all her beauty, she holds a Masters Degree in Sports Management from Northern Illinois University. And she is a true athlete with an athlete's body. Just fantastic, everyone loves Alicia... me too! From our past photo shoot in Palm Springs California...

With this enthusiasm of course he is the "Trainer of Champions" and the "Bodybuilding Wizard"! Charles Glass is a legend, having trained the top bodybuilders who have crossed the world's biggest bodybuilding stages for a long time. He can even turn dogs into champions in the gym!

Actually this was an out-take from my photo shoot with Charles for a Bodybuilding.com ad campaign some time back. But it remains one of my favorite photo shoots of all time!
