Stalling

November 8, 2009

Well it seems I’ve hit a plateau. I’ve been hovering between 148 and 150 - up and down up and down. My body really doesn’t seem to want to leave the 50’s. Too bad.

So I’m going to go on the Keto diet. This diet will, actually, be a bit more lenient than my current one as I will get a cheat/carb up day on the weekends so that will help with cravings (and me going completely insane). So far I’ve had no cheat days (except for the occassional insane crack up where I cackle manically as I eat an old half eaten cookie), so this will be a relief.

Low carb tortilla = ****load of delicious burritos. I am stoked.

And the keto recipe section is looking to be very helpful as well.

Oh and I think I’m back down a size in the pants (never know it could just be those particular pants, but hey I’ll take it lol)

Now for the quest of almond flour and other low carb rarities..

Update!

October 25, 2009

Wow it’s been a long while. As to my last post BodyBySandy sucked. It was a cookie cutter meal plan with NO variety. I hired another personal trainer for awhile (all I asked for my birthday was money for one). They were good workouts but no progress. I was laid off at work this summer and gained a few extra pounds I guess during that time. It was really hard no money, bills and depression. I finally was able to obtain another job, 3 dollar pay cut so I’m still kinda struggling money wise - but hey it’s a job!! And it’s awesome to have coworkers rather than work in the shop alone or just with my then boss. But I really do miss cabinetry and having an active job. However, I don’t miss the extreme weather conditions or looking like a dirty bum everyday - I actually get to wear normal clothes! And then I realized I don’t have very many normal clothes that fit.. so I bought some new ones ugh no fun.

I, of course have been dieting most of this time and really struggling to lose. I began to add in morning cardio a few times a week  a little over a month ago (still hate cardio) and was CRAWLING a long. Finally I was going on a new low carb low fat diet for awhile (still am on it) and decided to get my body fat tested in a body pod (as accurate as hydrostatic weighing) just so i knew for sure where I was. I had previously had my bodyfat tested with callipers and came in around 30ish %. When I went to get tested I found out I was 40%. Jesus. I was beyond shocked. I was always really weak in high school years and I’m sure I had no muscle. I know I’ve gained some since so I can’t even imagine what I was then - probably about the same since weight has gone up since then too.

It was so frustrating because all this time I was calculating my calories off of me being around 30% so know I realize why i was fighting for every pound before! What I thought was weight loss amount was more around maintenance arrg! Oh well. Now I know. And since then I’ve been able to lose more easily. I have lost about 11 pounds since I started with the morning cardio (fought for those first lbs so much). And this low carb/fat diet is hard but effective it seems! Another few weeks on this then I’m going to try cdk to switch it up.

I’m feeling really great. Actual progress rather than frustration ha - it really helps motivation wise. My new pants are starting to feel really loose w00t. I’m also on the verge of going down a cup size which is awesome, I’ll actually be able to find bras in my size in any store!

I need to remeasure myself and take a progress photo. I’m thinking of entering the oxygen off the couch challenge - little more motivation =] I doubt I’ll win because there are so many awesome women out there and I’ve already lost 11 lbs to I’m 1/3 there already ha but hey why not?

Nutrition plans

February 8, 2009

I’m so excited. I finally decided to hire a personal trainer to guide me in nutritional advice. I called a few places, not many trainers had experience with competing, I talked and met with some but none really stuck out (and one was hoorrible, I’m surprised he even gets clients with the way he treats them..). I ended up going with a woman named Sandy that has competed and has assisted many women in competing as well. I read good things about her on one of the amateur fitness competitors pages as well.

Her website is bodybysandy.com if anyone is interested. She seems awesome and I’m hoping she is! Another awesome thing is she has posing sessions that teach you how to pose as well as discussing suit selection, hair, make up etc.

I’m so excited to be working with her and having someone that is so knowledgable guide me.

..I’m really excited to get going lol

I just purchased it, so I’m waiting for everything, I’ll def. update about this later and my experiences with it

Hooker shoes

January 18, 2009

So I had my first go at hooker shoes yesterday..
The only place I knew of that would have something like this is well, a sex store (that also happen to sell clothing and shoes, and body jewelry..). I’m pretty sure when I do a competition I’ll end up falling on my face seeing as how I rarely do heels, and when I do they’re ones with backs that cup the heel of my foot thus keeping my foot in place.. So I became curious to how it would feel and if said store even had something that would work  I stopped in before my workout (plus: motivation/reminder of ultimate goal). So I see a few that would work out and I roll up my sexy gym sweats up to my knees and put on the first one. Okay.. I practically fall forward I’m so high on my toes jesus christ, and my whole foot is trying to go down this tunnel slide they call a shoe.. Let’s try the one that looks a little shorter yes?.. not bad so I hobble around with one giant heel and one tennis shoe trying to get a feel and then I attempt the simple straight forward pose you see so often in figure/fitness pictures from the front and side - off in my own world. And then I hear this woman "Do you need any sizes?" I step out of my (poor) stance and see this woman like halfway across the store looking at me like I’m crazy/weirdo kinda hiding behing this stand.. I’m not sure if I feel stupid or amused.. I leave shortly after

—————

How the hell do some of these women drink so much water a day?! All I can imagine is them sloshing to the gym and work everyday, seriously. I’m having a hard time getting 64 ounces in  because I forget all about drinking liquids unless I’m nice and thirsty. I think I should fill up two nalgene bottles each morning and make sure I at least get those down - it might help.

————————

On a side note freeze dried fruit is fanfreakingtastic. Strawberries and tart cherries being my favourite.  Forget popcorn, or chips..or money in your bank for that matter. *sigh*
—————————

So my biology teacher is apparently satan’s mistress, so I decided to take it in the summer instead and take my Chemistry labs now as well as start my personal trainer certification courses.. So that is way cool - and scary as shit. (no scratch that, shit has nothing on this milestone). I’ve been making cabinets for 4 years and frankly I’m sick of it. I don’t install much anymore so the satisfaction of seeing it all put together and the nice homes really made my job go down hill.  Plus the whole no ac in the summer (100’s are not abnormal here) and tiny heater (that basically just keeps the glue/finish from freezing) during the winter is getting pretty old. But starting a completely new and different job is.. anxiety worthy. But exciting..

…Anxiety.

Blog Entry

January 7, 2009

Well I figure this may assist me with staying focused on my health/fitness goals.. and maybe even allow for an occasional rant..

I found out that a nice consistant schedule is what keeps me focused. I of course found out the tough way. With the economy being so poor everyone is leery about throwing down cash for cabinets.. and thus work was so slow I had to take a week off. I went right back to eating poorly. And it’s not that I eat crap all the time, my problem is a don’t eat hardly enough or often enough. Plus some Christmas candy snuck back home with me *sigh* - I threw most of it away though. So I’m back at it again but I want to be better than I was. So here are some things I need to improve on:

-WATER! I totally don’t drink enough. I need to take water with me to work because the water coming out of that industrial pipe coming out of the wall isn’t very tasty (at all..) and doesn’t help. So yes, drink at least 2 nalgene bottles a day.

- protein at every meal. I’m getting enough protein in (usually..) I average 120 grams/day currently. (using fitday) During the week it’s higher, around 140-170 and on the weekend I don’t do as well - maybe 100. So the goal is to eat some sort of protein at _every_ meal..

-more cardio. Yeah.. it sucks, just do it and maybe if I got to the gym before 930 I won’t be so tired. Or I can do it between classes..

Sometimes I feel like I’ve been doing this.. lean body thing forever.. Based on so many testimonials eating clean is the key to being lean though. But damn it’s expensive!
Goal by May : 15-18% Body Fat
