After some rather major life disruptions (Separation), I’m back training after 8 months of getting my life sorted out.
So here I am with a new life, a new girl, and training for a new inproved body.
Stage one for me is to get back to my old form (pictured in my profile). So I’m eating like a monster to get the bulk back on, then it will be a matter of cutting back down again after that… I’ve kept the fat off over the 8 months (Stress took care of that), so it’s just a matter of getting the bulk back on.
Wish me luck!

After completing the Body For Life Challenge last Sunday (see my progress pics!), I had a well earned week off to let my body recover from 12 weeks hard training and dieting. Today I start back.
Now I have reached that goal, it’s time for a new goals.
So I’ve set myself two goals:
Goal 1 - Short term - Add some more mass for the Aussie summer and to look great for my wifes Hawaiian party in January.
Goal 2 - Long term - To get my self into competition form by the end of 2008, I’d love to compete in an amateur naturals comp.
So with my new goals set, there is only one thing to do…… Hit the weights!
Cheers!
Sammy.

So I’m on my last day for BFL and tomorrow I take my photos!
It’s all very exciting, I’ve just come back from getting a spray tan. I’ve never had a tan before. Normally I have 2 colors, white and red… so for the first time in my life I am brown, very brown!!! YAY!
I’ve carb depleted for 3 days and now I’m carbing back up so I look more full for my photos.
I’ve done all I can now… Now it’s time to see the results… I’ll do a pump up in the morning, and take the photo before lunch so I can use the morning light.
Coooooollll!

So after my last blog post, things are back moving again… It looks like dropping the calories to about 1650 to 1750 and eating clean has worked, and my body fat is dropping again.
With that I’ve gotten inspired to add an abs routine to my workout. Along comes an article from Maximum Fitness magazine on a 59 day abs routine… So I’m giving it a go and started tonight. My abs feel great and worked all over. So I’m going to continue with it, doing abs 3 times a week at the end of my workout (even though the mag says to do it first, I don’t agree with that). So lets see how it goes!

Progress has been a little slow last week. So I’m a bit dissapointed with myself. Body fat stayed the same at 12.2% and most body parts are unchanged, in fact, arms dipped a little. Saturday I went out for a friends birthday and I was definitely having a fat day, and I thought that was just a chick thing!
I think a combination of 2 things:
1) Was a bit naughty on diet, missed a few meals and also cheated a couple of times.
2) Time to change up the workout, I’ve been training for power for 4 weeks.
So here’s what I’m going to do this week to try and squeeze out some improvement:
1) Change up the workout. I’ll increase my reps to 8-12, going for 70% 1RM.
2) Tighten up the diet, no cheats this week, and try and eat much cleaner.
3) Throw in some cardio (As hard as that may be in the middle of a wet and cold Melbourne winter!)
To reach my goal of 8% by the 22nd of July, I now need to drop 1.45% a week.. So I really need to be down to 10.7% by this time next week… Lets see how I go.
I think everyone has a plateau week every now and then, and that was mine, so I’m going to use that as inspiration to try and break through that!

Very happy with my leg workout today… 95kg x 4 reps on Squats and 120kg x 6 on Calf Raises… Both a personal best. I could feel the bar flexing on the Calf Raises, was a great feeling!

Well here I am at the half way point of my BFL chellenge.
I’ve just done a short stint of increased calories to put on a little last minute bulk. Now I have 6 weeks to go, and aim to drop my body fat from 15% to 9% in that time. As my body is ectomorphic I see this as achievable, and should leave me in the best physical condition of my life.
I look forward to seeing what I can achieve!
Cheers!
