I can’t diet!!! Help!
I am having the most trouble sticking to my diet. Everyday, I know what I should eat, but end up eating something I later regret, or binge, or try and tell myself it is okay. How do you really stick to a diet of eggwhites, brown rice, chicken and some veggies?
I find it so hard, I feel like I am not even living. I mean when your whole life you are taught that fruit is good, milk and cheese are good for you, and then you can’t even eat those…its a shock! I love carbs, bread, tortillas, and I love peanut butter. I am trying to find a diet I can work with, but I need variety!
I feel like I starve myself from the things I really want for so long, that I just binge and then feel guilty. This is not healthy!! And another thing, how long does it take to get to the shape you want to be in? 6 months? I am slim and have muscle mass; I am at about 17% body fat, but I find that these last 5-7 lbs. of fat will not go away!
I think its so hard to stick to one thing for awhile, when I don’t see results immediately. Yes, I will admit, I am an instant gratification child. But, how long???????? I am a month away from my planned competition, and am embarassed to go see my posing coach, because I know I should be further along in my progress. I am just doing this for bikini, how do figure women do it??
Another thing that is so hard is that I work at a bar, working shifts as long at 11 hours that stretch into the early morning. I consume most of my daily calories then and find it hard to know what to eat, with so much temptation. Somebody please help me out. I need advice, tips anything!! This is stressing me out, because I think of it everytime I look in the mirror, look at food, get bored… pretty much this is on my mind 24/7. I am obsessed.

as much fun as it is to compete i will never do it again for all the reasons that you wrote about…it’s one big mind ****….to be so extreme just to look the very best you can on ONE day…no thanks…i would rather eat clean 95% of the time in a way that works for me, that i can stick with for more than a few months….and because of it im am in better shape both mentally and physically than i ever was in the days that i was competing…advice??? maybe re-work your diet so that it is slightly less strict…something that is do-able for you and won’t make you crazy…i know you think you have to be especially strict to make up for lost time…but really…you will only obsess over it more and the binges are far worse than eating an apple and some peanut butter would be….good luck

You must find out what you really want:do you want to be a competitor athlete or not.If you really want to compete then you’ll have to forget about eating normal food. It’s hard but it’s true. There’s no way you can eat whatever you want and be in shape. You should find happiness in something else, not food.Don’t reward yourself with food when you acomplish something. The truth is that you are alone, fighting with yourself and your "binging demons"
Who’s gonna win?

Sam, I know what you mean. I like to have veriety in my food. I’, 5′6 and droped my weight down to 126 lbs. The last five pounds came to me as a suprise. I had decided to stop loosing weight and begin to gain muscle. I increased my calorie intake by 300/Day and I lost more weight. Be carefull and make sure that you are not underfeeding yourself.
My Diet consists of 40% Carbs/40% Protein/20% Fat. Try NutritionData.com, it helps me figure out dailly balanced meals.
Look to drop weight at about 1-2 lbs/week anything more and you will begin to sacrifice muscle. At 1-2 lbs/week you can drop up to 24 lbs in 6 months. Remember doing cardio first thing when you wake up on an empty belly will help you burn the most fat and it will speed up your metabolism all day long. If you have any questions send me a message and I’ll try and help.

To stick to a diet is about mind-power 95% at the time and the last 5% are about the diet… I like my diet easy and simple…. you could try to do your diet this way:
mon-fri: stick to your diet no matter what
Sat. eat what you want
Sun: eat only clean food mostly food from your diet.
If you have a job where is hard to eat your food you could go for the protein cake diet , the cake you eat no matter what kind of job you got, just make sure that the cake gone when your shift is over
hope this help a little???

Could it be that you are in a transition period, adjusting to your diet? These times are very stressful, your body is not used to, and rebels.
Here’s my diet, maybe you can pick some ideas from it:
9am: chocolate protein shake with oats (2 cups non-fat milk+2 scoops chocolate-flavored whey protein+2/3 cup oats+dry berries) (about 65gr protein)
12pm: parboiled rice+fried or roasted peppers+grilled chicken or fish. There are so many tasty fishes you can try, all are good for you! (about 25gr protein)
3pm: 1low-fat yogurt+10 mini-carrots+1 "pure-protein" candy bar. (about 32gr protein)
4pm: 1 cup non-fat milk + 1 tsp instant coffee + 1 scoop vanilla-flavored whey protein (about 34gr protein). This is my caffeine shot
7pm: spinach salad (1 cup baby spinach + 1 tomato + 8 olives. The olives substitute for the dressing) + 1 slice whole-wheat bread + ham-omelette (1 medium egg + 2 medium egg-whites + 4 ham slices). (about 30gr protein)
10pm: 1 cup non-fat milk + 1 scoop cookie-flavored caseine protein (about 33gr protein)
This is a 2300cal diet with 219 gr of protein. You can reduce the calories by buying a more pure whey protein than the one I usually buy. also, the "pure protein " candy bars are sold at Walmart. Each has 180cal and 20gr protein.
