P90X - Phase Three (round two)
I'm back on the P90 train. Really I never left. This is due mostly to this being one of the best at home workouts ever, and the best one I've ever done. A friend of mine at work said that he spoke to a trainer/coach/leader for NC Fit Club (my apologies if I screwed up the name). What that trainer said was that P90X is meant to be something you can and should do over and over. He has been pretty good about it. At first, we started about a day apart form each other. He has been dedicated to it every day. As for me... life gets in the way. This week I started 'week 9' on Monday with Chest/Back and did the second workout - Plyo - this morning. When you go to bed at 2am or so three days in a row because homelife is so busy it makes it kinda hard to "press play" at 7am and get ready for work.
During the first couple phases (actually weeks 1 - 6) I skipped yoga and kenpo much more than I did them. I have found that it really doesn't help when you're trying to cut fat. The last couple workout weeks - especially recovery week, I've concentrated on doing whatever workout is next. Even if that means that it takes me 5 days to get through two workouts.
Someone commented on my last post that a good diet portion is 10% fat. I've been struggling with that. I finally got it down on the P90x diet plan - more or less. I did 50% protein, 30% carbs, 20% fat (52-60g) for almost two months and now I'm on 40/40/20. I use an online food calculator to add everything up and plan my meals out. Still not seeing any difference in this little band of fat around my midsection. Maybe I need an ultra-low blitz of almost no fat for a month or so. I'm just afraid of cutting out good fats, because fact is you need them. If anyone has any results on losing fat and correlation to testosterone levels (especially low) please let me know what you've found. I was tested low and have been looking for something to help. Different things that I read online confirm my blood test to my symptoms - fatigue, holding more fat, moodiness. But, I'd like to find out from a real person how they dealt with it and overcame.
I'm looking forward to getting out of the house and going for a mass building program as soon as I can. I'm planning on doing a month of the 300 workout. Looks like it could make me puke - awesome!! My experience has been that P90X is a good fitness routine but is geared more for endurance - no matter how many time Tony says "if you want size and strength, 8 to 10." I will admit though, I can do a heckuvalot more pullups! So I have gained some strength, but not like I'd like. I push hard but my arms have gained maybe a 1/2" in two round of this thing. Not trashing the workout - it's still amazing - but I need a switch.
By the way - Core kicks my butt every time.
