May 6, 2009

Today was a good day both diet and exercise wise. I did my six meals a day today and managed to stay away from bad carbs and bad fats. I’ve been taking this NO Fury powder that is supposedly expanding your veins so that more blood flows through and as a result, more oxygen is pumped to your muscles. It’s been my second time using this product during a session and I must say that I am enjoying the performance boost. Today I got on the leg press and did the following:

12/490, 10/580, 8/670, 6/670, 12/670.

By the end of the leg press my legs might as well have been noodles. I went on to do hamstring curls and calf raises but I think I over did it on the press. I’ll have to slow down for the leg press…perhaps some research about the benefits of high rep and lower weight will reveal something good for me. I’ll post more on this later on.

A New Me…

May 5, 2009

So this is my first posting of many to come. I am hoping to update this blog twice a week. So some of my background…ever since I was 6th grade, I always played organized sports year round. After HS, I joined the Army and was at the peak of my conditioning. I was always naturally muscled, not heavily so, but the muscle was there. My best conditioning saw me run a 2 mile run in 9:58 minutes. Once I was discharged, I started working law enforcement and let myself go a little bit. Seven years and two MCL surgeries later all that muscle was hidden under 30 pounds of fat. I then gave up my law enforcement career for an 8-5 office job and put on another 30 lbs of fat. So I found myself in December 2008 looking at another New Year resolution gone rogue and I couldn’t stand myself. So December 22, 2008 I got a personal trainer and starter after it. Five months later and 13 1/2" of fat less, I am on my way to a new way of life. My knee still swells up and I still slip when presented with some chicken wings; however, I keep after it. I look at myself in the mirror and tell myself that I won’t let myself get lost in thoughts of a better me. I have embarked on a life that is full of being active and not just wishing for something that I will continually grasp at unless I get up off my ass and do something about it. So join me in this fight against idleness and dreams of a better you. Let’s turn our dreams into action!
