Some progress - Week #2

Monday, August 27th, 2007

I continue to have good workouts (30 minutes cardio AM or PM and lifting sessions about 5 times a week).  I actually lost 1 pound this week - yeah.  I weigh myself in the AM after my run - so what I am seeing is my true lowest weight.

The area I need to get in line is my eating.  For the most part I don’t eat extremely badly - but my eating is not as regimented as my workout.  I am getting stronger - especially in my legs.  However, I know the fat loss is not where it could be.  I get about .7g protein per body weight on average.  The carbs are way up there though - because I am not strictly monitoring them.  I don’t drink sugared drinks, but I don’t cut out the carbs in the diet.

One positive note, my wife told me that it looks like my calves are getting bigger.  That has always been a problem area for me.  She notices that I walk around with my shirt off more as well.  My confidence must be increasing compared to 3 months ago when I was 12 lbs heavier.

I am going to keep chugging at this to see how far I can take it.

First Blog

Wednesday, August 22nd, 2007

I had a great workout today.  I worked on legs (smith squat, hip sled, leg curls, leg extensions, and calf raises).   However, I am a little worried about a slight pain in my left knee when I start my squat routine.  After I get going, the pain goes away.  I probably will ask my doctor about it and maybe take something to help with joint pain.  Interestingly, it happens only when I do squats and leg extensions.

I am going to try and get some cardio in tonight (30 minutes on the treadmill). I’ve noticed doing cardio on leg day is the most difficult.  Mind over matter :-) .

I am really starting to like this site.  There is tons of information and loads of inspiration.   It’s good to see so many people out there trying to achieve the same goals.

Happy Lifting
