My name is Ryan i started weightlifting after highschool
so ive been (weight lifting) on and off for about 2.5 years. This year i finnaly think i can say what i do now is (body building). Those who know the difference know what im saying. Anways, im now making some serious gains and leaning out for my first competition april 26th. its INBF Wisconsin Natural Championships. Im in the 165-176 weight class (middleweight) i guess im not to happy about that but i was a tiny guy to begin with so im moving up the ladder as i go. I only plan on doing this 1 competition this year and then im going to go straight to bulk phase for 9 months to try to get up to 225 off season and then cut to 198 to be in light heavyweights for 2009 and continue up the ladder from there.
My motivation comes from my dad who was a very strong weight lifter, could lift double what i have ever done so its basically my goal to achieve what he has as wel as fufil my own personal competition goals. Friends come and go, good friends stay around, girls come and go, good girls stay around but lifting weights at the gym is ALWAYS there, 100% of the time whenever i need it. The gym is where i do my work, its where i go to have fun, its where i go to grow, its where i go to mature my physique, its where i go to relieve stress, its where i go to get away… the gym is my life.
I guess for people who are just starting, look at my first progress picture… Now look at urself, i dont see how you could be much smaller then i was. You have probably heard this a million times but i mean it, if i can do it, you can do it. Every year you just learn more and more until u realize ur workouts are nothing like they used to be, completely changed for the better and you only wish you were lifting like that all along. Stick to it, keep learning, keep reading and ask questions to those who are bigger then you. Watch and learn when you go to the gym, see what there doing, study. If you want extreme results you need to put in an extreme effort. Im not just talking in the gym either, you need to match your gym intensity and program style to your diet plan. If your trying to gain and lifting heavy with low reps, you better be packing in the food and bulking with it. If your cutting down and repping the weights out to the max endurance style and railing cardio, u better have a nice clean spread of food for your day.
Lifting weights is just a hobby,
Bodybuilding is a choice of lifestyle, a passion for changing who you are and making you, the best you can be.
Now ask yourself, how bad do you want it… Only you have the power to make it happen.
My best to all,
Ryan Hatz
