Practice

Thursday, September 28th, 2006

So I went to practice to watch the rest of the team go over plays. I felt kind of crappy because I really could have been doing them but I suppose sitting out was giving me much needed regeneration time.

I really hate how I read something in the forums and then people start arguing and never come to a conclusion. I read something about CEE being bad for you, and I also read that ZMA is greatly enhanced by additional potassium. I just drank a big glass of prune juice with my ZMA so I’ll see what happens other than the runs.

Squats went decently but I was weak as I took my CEE to far in advance of my brief leg session tonight. Once I got momentum up I was able to make a decent work out of the night. I did 8,6,6,6,6, then 10 and 10 in rapid succession of 225, 275, 290, 305, 320, 225, 225 respectively. Followed that with a giant (4 x 6 each leg non stop one leg at a time) set of leg extensions which I find help my knees out immensely. Followed that with leg press machine which I did to failure giving me a great pump.

Tomorrow I suppose I will force myself to take the day off in preparation for the game Saturday.

This is the start of something. I can’t wait for week five, kicking up to 25-30 rep range.

Junkie

Thursday, September 28th, 2006

I’m sitting here wincing every minute as I can feel blood slowly leaking into the muscle tissue of my forearm. I told my mother this morning that I am not taking Tylenol because I need the pain, it reminds me that I am alive. I did some poses in the mirror this morning and I felt really good about my progress. I can feel this frame spreading and the muscle binding on to my bones. I am going to get a good weigh in today, I am hoping for 200lbs.
I know I should take it off, I know I should rest till the game saturday so I can be in peak physical condition. I just can’t. I have to go, I have to hear that sound of screaching and smash those 45’s on the rack. I’ll just squat today and let the rest of my body continue to heal. Dear lord give me the strength to perservere.

Pain

Wednesday, September 27th, 2006

I’m half way through week four on a twelve week program I have designed to meet some goals. My first two weeks where doing very low reps with heavy weight, a strategy that I have not really followed since my high school lifting days when all that counted was one to three lifts. Week five I am going to transition to higher repetitions and lower the weight utilizing some different techniques until week twelve when I will reevaluate myself. I have been struggling with diet, especially at night and on non training days. I am only lifting four days a week now, however next week will mark the transition to six. I know this is going to be very difficult with my rugby schedule, but I will accept setback and not failure.

I have so many injuries right now but I just cannot stop. My wrists are sprained, my forearm is very week from rupturing a vein, and my shoulder is sprain from a incorrect form on cable crunches. I will keep training.
