Leg Day Yesterday

April 30, 2008

I think isometrics really has helped me push through barriers. I’m using Scivation x tend during my workouts, it really seems to give me a sustained energy source. The problem is I run out of it so quickly! I miss doing power cleans from back in my high school days so I’ve started to add them on quad day just for fun I suppose.
Workout was

Back Squat - 225 x 10 warm up, 285 x 6, 305 x 6, 325 x 6, 345 x 3

Power Clean from Hip - 3 x 145

Hack Squat - 360 x 6, 380 x 6

ss

Walking lunges - 50lb bar / pace, 60lb bar / pace

Iso Hold leg extensions - 160lb x 20 count x 2 sets

I did a little shoulder work this morning and I’m already feeling jello legs.

I know I need to post some. I have some good development in my hamstrings, glutes, shoulders, and lats.

I’ll get around to it soon.

It’s not about the weight

February 24, 2008

There is just something deep and mental about difficulty. It is about fighting because I can fight very hard.

Today was deadlifts, the lift that contorts the body to its most unholy look. Veins screaming under stretched flesh. Traps holding onto shoulders like hooks in the back of corpses.

335lbs for sets of 6, real slow, thinking about my hamstrings, my stomach tight and rigid.

I am not the strongest, nor the fastest, or the smartest.

I am tough and I am disciplined. I know that the time spent not improving myself is time that I am sacrificing the gift.

Wheels

February 20, 2008

I’m reading Brother Iron, Sister Steel, by Dave Draper. Good book with some good routines..

I’m sitting here on my couch drinking my favorite after session shake (whole banana, 1.5 scoops whey, oj, water, ice, little bit of flaxseed, vanilla yogurt). I’m feeling some pain.

Supersets are just my staple these days. I am loving the pump I get, my quads feel like sides of beef. I am walking like a hulking frame. I had to lower myself out of the hack squat machine after my last set, i’ve been shaking for a bit. I ****ing hate training legs, and I love training legs with the same fervor.

Workin with this currently, keeping it fresh

Leg Extensions 4 x 15

Back Squats ss Hack Squats 4 x 8-12

Walking lunges w/ 35s

Leg Extensions 2 sets, drop set starting at 115 down to 55lbs.. 20-30reps

Love the pain

Momentum

June 18, 2007

We’ve all been through it, meet the girl, stop working, get lazy, drinking, excessive sleeping…

The distractions are gone the weight is coming back on. Starting a double session 5 day split this week inspired by Silvo Samuel’s workout.

My calves are swollen like rocks right now, and the poundage is going up with the intensity.

Back to my roots, back to the steel.

I am returning to hard training after a brief respite from the gym. I’ve got new pictures to post soon and I am ready to pack on some more muscle in anticipation for the upcoming summer rugby season.

Stay tuned. Lift Hard.

About there

February 25, 2007

I have to put some new pictures up. I’m afraid I did lose some muscle mass on this cut as many things got in the way of my goal over the course of it. (women, school, more women.. :) )

Still going well, my hand is still rather injured from an old injury (getting cleated) in a past game, however ramped up training in anticipation for summer has rapidly decreased my body fat as well as over wall weight.

One week left, and then I am going to take a break for a few weeks (spring break) and then return to hard core style of training. I have really become a disciple of Milos Sarcev, who had a great spread in Flex magazine a few issues ago I believe. I think I am going to try his training split (much like my own) after I return from holiday.

Looking really lean and cut, especially in my back.

Cheers

Dropping

February 6, 2007

Weight is going down like a rock parachute.

Damn I hate chicken.

Stay tuned…
