New Moves….

I’ve been very pleased with my cycling, the miles and hours that I’ve been putting on the bike are coming along nicely! This past week I implemented another form of cross-training to hopefully complement all my other activities….. and that would be…..jogging!  Now, I’m sure that doesn’t hold much significance to most people…but for me…it’s huge.  I haven’t done any type of impact exercising in a very long time.  I haven’t attempted running any measured distances in YEARS. I’ve started out with conquering the mile…so far I’ve been able to jog about 2/3rd’s of it and speed walk the rest. It’s amazing to me that I can ride for hours on a bike, but one measly mile is kicking my ass!!  So far I have run 3 days this week and chobbled around incredibly sore the other days…they tell me it will get better…lol…we’ll see, won’t we?!

Since I’ve decided to pursue running…my goal for that is to work up to 5 miles and run in our local 7k Shamrock Run next March.  Why not!!

Isn’t it amazing how our bodies can master one form of cardio but be challenged by another form? That is amazing to me as well.

Sometimes changing things up is great for the body.

It sure surprised me how sore I was! I’m real pleased with this change of my routine…it feels great to add running in. I’ve really been enjoying the outdoors and the fresh air…it’s a nice change of pace. I did have to rest a couple days…the poor leg muscles were in a bit of shock…ha!!
