What a GREAT day…:)
I’m getting stronger and stronger! Today’s power cycling class was actually FUN. The instructor threw in a lot of interval climbs in todays class….woo hoo!! I managed to keep up at fairly respectable pace….a huge difference from 6 months ago. The achilles is officially no longer a problem. After class I threw in another hour of weights…
The great Northwest couldn’t have had nicer weather today…who wants to sit inside when the glorious sun is calling! Catch a few rays, mow the lawn and plant a few flowers. Pretty nice when a person can stay physically active doing things they love…right?

Don’t you just love it when you’ve got a 3 day weekend?…..I do…ha.ha.
Sorry…didn’t me to rub it in…(who am I kidding)…yes I did!!! I plan on making some big strides this weekend. I think I’m going to workout all weekend long…why…because I can.
Okay, I’ll try to contain my excitement, but I just finished up with one of my classes. Now I have one more six-week class, then I’m done forever…woo hoo!! I get to have my life back!! I can hardly wait to really enjoy summer, cycling, hiking, photography, gardening…that’s what I’m talking about…:)
Have a great weekend everyone….I know I will.

I decided THIS was the weekend to go back to cycling….
After months of recovery from an achilles tear…two false starts trying to get back in the saddle….knee inflammations….illness….yada, yada, yada $%!!!
I walked into this session determined to make that hour of powercycling happen….and you know what? IT DID… I’m absolutely thrilled. No strained ache in the achilles, no weak calf muscle allowing the heel to drop down, no ache in the ankle, NO ache in the arch of my foot. It seems like it has been an eternity since I’ve been back on a bike…and my fanny was telling me afterwards that it actually has been…ha..ha….
This gives me a whole lotta freedom for my cardio now…and I’m going to love every minute of it. For those who don’t know…powercycling is how I lost the first 40-50 pounds….and baby….it’s how I’m losing the final 40 too!!!
Let the games begin….

All that fresssssh air!
Bend, Squat, Leg Press, Lift….repeat…OH… and walk, walk walk. Throw in a little dig and crawl….NOW you’ve got the picture!!
I’ve just spent the past 6 hours cleaning up flower beds, weeding, and planting some very beautiful flowers. Enjoyable…YES…hardwork…double YES. I’ve had a real good workout today, no gym needed for me tonight.
One big mistake…don’t wear a halter top for that many hours in the sun without sunscreen.. :O

Just for fun, of course!
There’s probably many who can whoop me real good….but I’m giving it a whirl. So far I’m up to 3 sets of 30…and trying to increase it even more. If anyone want to modify this challenge….HEY…I’m up for it!! Let’s see what we can achieve by the end of May….What do you say?

Today I graduated….it’s only 26 years after my last effort at college.
I know this has nothing to do with bodybuilding or fitness…..BUT it does have to do with my feelings of happiness, satisfaction and well-being. Going back to school was not at the top of my list and to begin with it was sort of forced on me (job related)….but as I got into the swing of it I began to enjoy the return to academics. Now, a year and a half later, I have my Bachelors degree….and NO ONE can take that away…:)
I enjoyed myself today….even though half the graduates were young enough to be my kids! I loved having family and friends there to cheer me on, we enjoyed eating out afterwards….and then afterwards…..I came home and had a nice, looonnng nap…ha.ha..
What’s my treat for Mother’s Day….I plan on being in the gym first thing in the morning….then we’ll see what happens from there!

That is my mantra…. even on the days when I’m a little tired and ALMOST talk myself out of exercising. I know if I will just get myself to the gym everything will be alright. Tonight was a great workout…complete upper body weight training and 65 minutes of cardio. The cardio is coming easier and easier ….it’s time to up the pace!
A year ago if you had told me I would be running on the treadmill I would have laughed and said, "No way…I’m too old to start running again." Now…it’s happening! Probably a little more jiggle than I would like but I know if I keep it up, that too will lessen. YEARS ago, running was my main source of exercise and now I’m once again looking forward to a crisp, early morning run. I haven’t started yet….but by the rate I’m going…. I imagine I’ll be able to get out there in about a months time. Woo Hoo….:)

Runner down…..Runner down!
On Wednesday evening I was all set to crank out my hour of cardio….I made it to 35 minutes when I just couldn’t go any more…My foot was on FIRE. I peeled away the sock and the moleskin…and about 3 layers of skin..OUCH.
My cardio has suffered these past few days because of a huge blister I developed on one heel. I’ve been trying to protect it all week long but it finally gave way. That’s what I get for wanting new cross-trainers! My old runners were breaking down and I knew I needed to get some new ones if I was going to ramp up the cardio the way I have.
I rested it for the last couple of days, treated it the best I know how…dried it out, toughened it up….TOMORROW we will see. The moleskin is going back on, the old runners are going back on and we’ll see if I can make the cardio happen!
