Weekend Warrior…..:D

Thursday, February 28th, 2008

The weekends are rapidly becoming my favorite time of the week…why?  I’ve become addicted to hanging out a the gym!  I laughingly call it my "spa" day.  I love getting there first thing in the morning, starting out with a short cardio session and then moving on to an extended time on the weights….topping it all off with the sauna and jacuzzi time……repeat the next day….:)  This process has been huge in my positive progression….I’ve gotten the sitting leg press up to 275 lbs…and continue to raise the bar…what fun!

I feel good…..so good….like I knew I would….HEY…

Tuesday, February 26th, 2008

I’m on day two of this high protein/low carb regime….and it’s definitely agreeing with me!  Cranked out my cardio this morning and put in 1.5 hours weight training this evening…AND hung out in the sauna for about 20 minutes.

For once, I’m actually excited about a "diet"…because it doesn’t feel like one at all.  I’ve never tried the 6 small meals a day…so that’s taking a little getting used to.  I love the feeling of an empty stomach first thing in the morning because it’s been a long time since I’ve had that sensation!

I’m invincible….:)

Day one…of however many it takes!

I’m up, I’m up!!!  Already got the cardio done…..protein shake….shower …..boom!! Out the door and off to work.

Better Late than…never.

Sunday, February 24th, 2008

Okay…my Sunday start date was blown away.  What was I thinking…..this weekend was a big event for me.  It was my 30th high school reunion.  I had a wonderful time and just tried to eat healthfully.  Yes….there were a few slips here and there, but no catastrophes.  Sooo…I’m stilled fired up and can’t wait to wake up tomorrow and start this thing, for real!!

The best schedule I can work out is…. cardio early in the morning and then weights in the evening after work. Six small meals…. Wish me luck… if there are any suggestions out there…throw them at me…:)

Yeah….!

Thursday, February 21st, 2008

I just got my all my supplies today to start my high protein, low carb regime….My start date is this coming Sunday and I am SO ready!!  Time to get rid of this fat layer….I’ve developed some real good muscle but it’s hard to tell because of the extra weight I’m packing around.  I’m loving the weights….and will be adding in cardio EVERY DAY.

Summer is not far away and I WILL wear that bikini ….:)

Time for a Change…

Friday, February 15th, 2008

I had a great workout this evening!!  Definitely piled on the weights and low reps.  Got the sitting leg press up to 255 lbs…woo hoo…:)  I tried for 275 but I don’t thing once counts…..ha, ha…

Heading down to SoCal for the weekend so I won’t get a chance for anymore weights until Tuesday, but will try to get some cardio in each day….looks like it’s going to be great weather!

The diet will be changing drastically once I return.  Will be implementing a high protein, low carb diet….time to attack the fat..!!

Who’s on first?

Monday, February 11th, 2008

I keep getting conflicting information from different sources….help.

Is it best to do cardio and then weights….or the other way around?  Does it matter?  I’ll be in the sauna waiting for an anwer…..:)

Why do dumbells intimidate me?

Sunday, February 10th, 2008

I have no problem climbing on just about any machine…but i’ve seriously avoided lifting the free weights….why is that?  I’ve watched enough people do them that I’m quite knowledgeable on their uses, but I can’t seem to get up the courage to venture over to that part of the gym.

Totally pathetic…..I know.

Weight…….WAIT..

Sunday, February 10th, 2008

My lastest endeavor is basically circuit training.  I start at the end of a long line of machines and work my way through them all……then I start over again.  I usually do 3 sets with 12-15 reps in each set. It takes me about an hour or so and I’ve worked up a pretty good sweat when I’m done!  The upper body is coming along…but is definitely my weak area.

The pull down Lat I’m up to 65 lbs..and I’ve just reached 75 lbs for the pullover.  My triceps suck!! I can’t seem to get beyond 35 lbs….and that’s both arms working together…:(  I’m finally at 45 lbs (on a good day) for the front butterfly.

For the lower half….on the sitting leg press I’m up to 195 lbs.  Hip adductor/abductor…90 lbs pressing out….140 lbs pressing in. I don’t know what the name of the machine is …….but it’s the one where you’re laying on your stomach and curling your legs up…50 lbs.

Miscellaneous other machines for abs…

I’ve gotten pretty comfortable with these machines, but have tried to not get too complacent.  I continue to raise the weight by 5 or 10 lbs….about once a week.   What I’m wondering is……

Should I continue to keep raising the pounds …or at some point should I increase the sets?

Where to Start….

Friday, February 8th, 2008

Hello….I’m new to this bodybuilding stuff….so I’ll start with a little history.  Over the last 10 years I’ve slowly gained weight. It just kind of crept up on me and before I knew it, I was fat.  I’ve always been into sports and was always very fit until I reached my late 30’s.  Due to a tremendous amount of stress in my life the last few years…taking care of myself spiraled out of control….BUT…the competitive me is back!!  I am focused and ready to kick my own ass!!  I am still very involved in sports, I play on a co-ed softball team, powercycle (spinning) and am now starting to learn the ropes of weight-training.  What I’m hoping to gain from this website is constructive advice and support.  Would I love to be a hard body?….SURE, but my focus right now is to systematically drop the excess weight and keep the bod as toned as possible in the process.

Be warned….I have tried many different diet plans….with very little success.  I’ve tenaciously stuck to them and my body seems to adjust to whatever regime it is, without dropping any weight.  One of the few plans that has shown success is a juice/broth detox diet.  Over the last 2 years I’ve lost 40 pounds….and probably have another 40-50 to go.  I must be doing something right, because the weight that’s dropping off is not coming back, but I fight for every pound that I’ve lost so far.

So bring it on….I’m all ears.
