Too much muscle/ not feminine enough?
Muscle is sexy!! I hear so often about people saying “Its great to see a woman in shape, but too much muscle is not very feminine. Recently, I seem to keep hearing “Well, see id rather a woman have curves with just a little bit of tone.” Obviously, as my recent pic indicates, I have far surpassed that. Love the person, or potential mate, whatever they look like. That’s really the whole point of the blog below. I just saw a recent video by Msfitness68 and you all should go look at it! I can honestly say that if that amount of bodybuilding or muscle turns you off, you would be in for a shock. I can assure you that not only do I look much younger than 24 when I work out, but also that I don’t look that feminine. Some days, particularly during arm workouts, my arm veins are really visible. I just look really athletic and muscular. When I am away from the gym, however, I dress completely feminine. I wear 00 jeans, and will wear dressy tops or long sleeved nice shirts. In that context, you can tell im thin, but not bodybuilding. Never once have I gotten “Wow, do you bodybuild!?” People have called me petite, skinny, thin etc though. I am actually looking to be about 120 or so. SO, I need to gain A LOT of lean muscle. Having muscle, as she says, will not make you look less feminine!

I saw MsFitness68’s video and agree completely. In my opinion, when I gained weight I LOST the assets and shape that made me looked more womenly. I looked blocky and lumpy. Now that I am putting on MORE muscle my shape is returning and I also FEEL more feminine. Go figure!

Muscle IS sexy. I think to many people have the wrong idea about what "muscle" is though.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Is muscle sexy, I think it can be. Natural, lean and muscular to me are very sexy. Pushing your body to be the best it can be, is the most beautiful thing you can do. It doesn’t matter if you attain what others think is "perfect" or not, just being the best you can be is what counts. When you gain your 20 lbs of lean mass, I’ll know you worked hard for it. You will still be feminine, and still look fantastic. I say shame on the person who would keep you from being the best you, you can be. Keep going strong.

thats a really harsh attitude to be recieving. Im sorry that you’ve gotten that negative attention. You look great. Many see bodybuilding as the mens sport, which is totally wrong btw. But I think it sucks how many say muscle isnt feminine, you look fantastic. NOBODY is pretty in workout mode, there’s the guys who groan like farm cattle. Just be who you are. Continue striving for who you are. Dont ever let anybody stand in the way of your goals and dreams. Best of luck and I wish you all the best. Dont wrry about all those haters that aren’t appreciating your hard work

Hey girl!
I am sorry that you are receiving crap from people. You are an attractive feminine woman and any guy that says he doesn’t like what you have to offer has some issues. Muscle on a woman is sexy. That is as long as she’s not so over muscled that she looks like a male bodybuilder. That’s when it becomes too much for me, but a woman with abs and muscles like yours is hot. Jamie Eason is the ultimate model of feminine perfection and she’s buff!
Stick with what makes you happy and tune out negative input from everyone else. Never compromise your fitness goals or you will kick yourself later

Since your blog post was one of the ones that inspired MY blog post, I figured I’d share it here with you

Thank you all for your kind responses! I must say, I havent had that much of an issue with it (yet…) but friends and other people have. I recently was doing a fitness search and somehow came across a male forum. They were talking about this girl with great ripped abs. And one or two guys were like "Thats too much. My kind of girl is kida curvy but with some tone." And I just couldnt believe it. Sorry, but I think if people have this mentality they will never experience "true love." True love is about falling in love with a soul. Not curvy bodies, or big breasts, or low bodyfat, or a certain height. Its sad that many people who think they get it, dont. If I was into someone and they said I was too "In shape" for them (or too muscular) they wouldnt be worth my time. Id move on to someone who saw me as perfection. I feel so bad for my female friends who get these nasty emails/ comments.

Nicole, I couldn’t agree with you more. Muscle is sexy! But It’s my belief that it’s not the degree of muscularity that makes one sexy. It’s that super burst of confidence you get in yourself when your body responds the way you ask it to respond. It’s not the way you look, it’s the way you feel at your core!!!
And you are perfect just the way you are. Speaking as a large breasted female. It aint all it’s cracked up to be!!!!! Being healthy and in shape is so much more important than filling a bikini top.

Agreed. One of my friends, who happens to be Colorado State Figure AND Fitness champ is super ripped and actually really muscular, but you can tell only when she’s working out/in a tank top, etc. In regular clothes she looks TINY and feminine. Some "assets" are lost when body fat goes down, but so what? Anyways, I think it’s just because the general public has the wrong impression about bodybuilding in general. Granted there are a few women builders who took it too far but that’s a SMALL percentage. A woman who is all skin and bones is not sexy! There needs to be some lean meat on a body. Keep up your great work!

Everyone likes something different. To each their own. You work hard for that body… do you really want someone who doesn’t appreciate it? The guys who do like it will probably have more in common with you. Not to mention that really fit people are rare in America. So you are not normal by definition… people tend not to like things they dont understand. Keep it up, your doing great!

Well considering that 60 % of the USA is now considered obese or overweight, it doesn’t come as a suprise to me that the average person doesn’t want someone wh has musce on them, because they are rippling with so much fat that they need someone to make themselves feel better about themselves. The people who actually take pride in thier bodies are the ones who get that they are too thin or too muscular but remind yourself of who the person is that is saying the person is that way. More than likely it is a person who falls into the category of obese or overweight. I have never heard anything negative about this except from people who don’t take care of themselves. In no way does having muscle even if your a woman make you less feminine. There is a point to me when I think it becomes less attractive, but that is usually when the female looks as big or close to male bodybuilders. But you look very fit and feminine and your muscle doesn’t take away from that.
