The Return of Cardio…

So I hate running just like everybody else and was looking for a good alternative to it and saw on tmuscle.com an article about barbell complex’s. It’s like a circuit training based thing but better. I chose Cosgroves evil 8 and got owned so bad, this is after about a 2 years of not doing any cardio. 90 seconds rest has never seemed so short.

not getting anywhere.

I realized my bench has gone down a considerable amount because of the shoulder rehab exercises i stopped doing, which i just recently started doing again with a resistance band.

But thats the least of my worries. My vertical has only increased about an inch over the past 2 months and i feel that i could be getting a considerable amount more if i just programmed correctly. So no more from the starting strength book and on to what should really be helping, vertical jump bible. I’m going to follow the intermediate plyometric focused program coupled with Kelley’s novice strength program, hopefully this will get me the results i need.

I keep going back between which one i really want to focus my goals on, strength or mass. The more I think about it the more I realize that mass is useless and that I need to focus on my strength for my upper body again. I think i should keep doing Bill Starrs 5×5 with plyometrics and olympic lifting on my off days only replacing squats for box squats.

Box Squats…

I don’t know why i spent so much time doing back squats when i could have been doing box squats, its so much better for the posterior chain to be doing box squats. I wanted to get my squat to 2.5x my bodyweight but only now am i realizing that my ultimate goal wasnt to squat that much, it was to be dunking in the fastest time possible, so now im changing to box squats and leaving back squats in the dust!

Creatine Update

April 26, 2009

Thank god only 2 more days until i can stop taking this for a week, to resolve the stomach issue i started taking it at night before i go to sleep on an empty stomach with just water, it helps and its easier to have this way.

Im starting my 6th week of my mass routine and im tired of it, not lifting for PR’s is actually pretty boring, i would much rather do a strength oriented routine as opposed to the one im on now, but summer is just around the corner and im nearly done.

Changed my chest routine a bit because i’ve been noticing that my mid and upper chest area is pretty decently sized now but im really lacking on the lower part so i’ve replaced incline barbell bench with decline dumbbell press still 4×8-12 and changed it to having much less sets. Hopefully during these last 2 weeks of the routine i can see some good gains off of the switch.

Creatine Update

So i’ve already skipped 2 non-consecutive days of taking this, but other than that ive been pretty consistent.

It always upsets my stomach no matter how i take it or what i eat afterwards, it’s really ****ing annoying. So that makes me wonder if its just this creatine itself or if i can get another one that will make it easier on my stomach, plus the iron-tek one i have tastes like absolute shit and i didn’t even think that would matter that much because ive never done supplements before but now after almost 2 weeks of this i need something thats going to taste somewhat decent.

One product i’ve been looking into that have gotten a hell of a lot of really good reviews is Controlled Labs Green Magnitude, even though its not creatine monohydrate a lot of people have said good things about it…and i just found it online for really cheap, 1.8lb for 35 bucks…jesus

Just got my creatine monohydrate in micronized form, from iron-tek it was 13.99 for 500g pretty ****ing cheap.

I’m not going to go through a loading phase as i was told for a reputable source that it’s not needed and just a waste of money.

So this marks day 1 out of 21 continuous days of the cycle.

ill take my weight after i workout tonight and will keep updating.

Creatine

I’m about to get my check for some temp work i did and ive really been looking into getting some creatine because i didn’t know it was so cheap.

Been looking at any micronized creatine monohydrate and some glutamine. I think i only really need those 2 in order to get bigger, also im using some cheap whey protein i got from costco, 6 lbs for 30 bucks and its whey isolate.

Was looking on yelp and see a good vitamin store owned by a korean guy who knows his shit and its not too far from here, so tomorrow im gonna look into that.

Results…

1 week of my diet and 1 week of my new mass gain program, my god the results are getting intense at only 1 week!

I am on no supplements what so ever, and don’t think i am going to go on any as my body is responding really well to my diet, i think genetics has a lot to do with this part.

Maybe sometime after this i might consider taking some creatine monohydrate and some L-glutamine but my excuse right now is that im broke and i want to see what my body will be like after a mass phase without any supplements.
