Break Time!

Tuesday, June 16th, 2009

SO I’m down a total of 20 lbs after almost two and a half months.  This weekend I went camping with some friends which included a lot of drinking.  I don’t feel guilty at all as I felt I need a break anyways.  So I took a progress pic before the weekend and weighed myself at around 202 lbs.  I’m back now but I’m not eating low carb this week yet.  Nope, eating fairly clean but moderate carbs and NO COUNTING.  Next Monday I’m going to Boston on a business trip and when I come back I will resume my cut.  Maybe cut another 5-10 lbs and then do a very very slow bulk, bordering on maintenance.  I’m actually pretty happy already but I still kind of want more.  I feel like I’m ALMOST there and I want to see how far I can take this.

As for my week off.  I worked out yesterday and my strength was THROUGH THE ROOF!!  I did some standing curls with 110 lbs, and it felt like nothing, added 10 lbs, nothing, did 130 lbs, easy, eventually when I tried doing 150lbs I hit a bit of a wall but still, strength and energy were WAAAY up.  This is what I remember working out felt like.  Amazing what a little carbs and a slight caloric surplus does do your power level.  My power level was at NINE THOUSAND!!!!

Oh, and I’ve been getting a lot of compliments and general comments about my leanness lately.  Which feels great.  Mostly dudes and not women, cause let’s face it guys;  99% of women don’t really appreciate what we do, but it’s encouraging regardless.

Use the same scale!

Monday, May 25th, 2009

Well, I thought my weight loss progress slowed so I decided to drop my daily cals by 200 to 2600/day.  I work out at two different gyms depending on my mood (one is opened longer and has more equipment, the other has some heavier dumbbells, etc.).  Well, I was back at my old gym yesterday, weighted myself and HELLO, the scale showed about 205-206 lbs!  I think I’ve actually been steadily dropping but I started going to the other gym more and using their scale, which is calibrated differently.  Now I’m thinking about bumping the cals back up.   No need to starve myself it 2800 is still working.

This weekend was also pretty bad for diet.  Went to a theme park with my friends Saturday, and had a family gathering on Sunday at which my mother for once cooked (!!!! lol) and I ended up eating a bit of crap.  Especially Saturday where my friends convinced me to eat two slices of PIZZA!  ARGHH.  I don’t feel too bad though since I’ve been eating clean as hell for over a month and  probably needed a bit of a carb boost anyways.  Today is back to business.

Here we go

Tuesday, May 19th, 2009

Well, I’m going to actually make an attempt at using this thing.  I’m generally disorganized and tend to not write anything down.  My workouts are generally only loosely organized and I tend to improvise the rest so this is a big of a jump for me but oh well.  I’m halfway though a cut and I’m already down about 15lbs so this is a weird time to start blogging but oh well.

I’m doing a generally low carb diet with a carb heavy meal for breakfast and another semi-carb heavy meal around 5-6 pm when I leave work (this means I have to bring two lunches to work and is a bit of a pain but there really is no other way).  The second carby meal is supposed to give me energy for my workout which is usually around 8 pm.  So far so good but I’ve been eating around 2800cals/day for the duration of the cut and my progress seems to be slowing.  I decided to lower the cals today to 2600/day and see what happens.  This should give my body a bit of a kick in the nuts….fingers crossed……we will see.
