3 years of Weight loss
July 4, 2009When I first started my bodyspace page I put up pictures and graphed my weight loss only starting from the beginning of this year. But in reality I started loosing weight right after I had my daughter in 2006. After talking to my husband I decided that it would give maybe give some of you who are struggling better look at how long it can take to loose weight when you dont have the right information.
After I had my daughter I jumped on the Weight Watchers bandwagon. I was mostly eating about 1200 to maybe 1500 calories a day and I wasnt working out. When I had her in July of 2006 I weighed somewhere around 235.
I was very diligent about following the plan. And my husband was a wonderful help! He would weigh my food for me and have it ready when I got home from work. He wouldnt talk me into having ice cream or going out to dinner. Its really nice to have as much support as you can get.
After about 7months I was back down to 185-190. That was my pre-baby weight. For the next year I stayed the same weight. I would go on and off the Weight Watchers plan. Each time eating less and less until at one point I finally stopped and realized that I was eating around 900-1100 calories a day with hardly any protien and no fat.
I had never thought about how much protien, carbs and fat I was taking in. I was only worried about the "points" and calories. I had to step back and really think about what I was doing to myself. And not to mention what I was doing to my family. Eating that low of calories a day puts a person in a permanete state of crankiness.
In September 2008 I joined a gym. I have always loved working out. I stared out as a cardio junkie, doing about 50 minutes four days a week. Oh and I thought it would be a good idea to work my abs after every cardio session too. I had thought like so many other women that if I started lifting weights and I would bulk up.
The funny thing is that I have always enjoyed lifting weights and I really wanted to do it again. I had talked myself into loosing weight first before I started weight lifting. My goal was to loose 10lbs before I started weights. It took me from September until January to loose nothing. I worked really hard at it too. My clothes did seem to get a little bigger, but that was it.
The middle of January I decided to really work hard on my diet and stick with my cardio routine. By the middle of March I had finally lost my 10lbs. Also at that time my husband and found Bodybuilding.com. He had told me all the great information he had found and showed me how to navigate the site. I had come across this link in the womens forum: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=290201
After reading it several times, I purged the kitchen and went shopping. I printed the list and took it with me to the store and completely restocked our kitchen. Next I made a workout routine. That was much more difficult for me. I didnt know how many exercises to do. My husband showed me the workout data base on bb.com and I also like to use http://www.exrx.net/Exercise.html.
You can look at my progress pictures and the graphs. It was pretty amazing. I have never had a program work so easily for me. The thought of eat more loose more was a very hard concept for me to adjust to. But I did it and Im really glad I did. And as far as weight lifting goes I am now a size 8/10 and 159lbs. My goal was to be 160 by August. I have NEVER been a size 8 in anything. I had always believed that I needed to weigh around 130 to even think of being an 8. But the weight lifting and really leaned my body.
I hope this helps anyone who is stuggling. Good luck!
