Playing tennis…

I have been playing tennis for the last week instead of doing my normal jog and my calorie burn is great (according to my monito) but I am starting to question it. When I run for 25 minutes I burn 400 calories and have a great sweat I am playing tennis for about an hour and burning 600 calories but I don’t feel as burnt as I do when I run. I feel like I am slacking…is that normal?

Tonight is my skating night I generally skate for about an hour and a half and burn about 1000 calories but again I don’t have the tightening feeling that I do when I run. Am I just looking to much into this?

Also, I was following a macro of about 50 protein, 32 carbs and 18 fat at about 2000 calories but for the last few days I have been doing about 46 to 50 carbs 32 protein and 20 and under fat…still around the same in calories 1800 to 2200 but I feel like I am slacking…is this just a hump to get over and I need to stop worrying myself about. Having a few higher carb days is not going to put the weight back on me right…

This is so frustrating…

its not a bad idea to switch up your cardio routine. However the reason you feel like you are slacking is becuase skating and tennis aren’t as intense as running. With tennis, you dont have constant movement, and with skating its more relaxing then fat burning. While both still qualify as exercise, none will give you the same cardio workout as running. But as I said, its not a bad idea to switch it up, becuase doing just one thing can get boring very easily.

To answer your 2nd question first, weight gain is about overall calories. Having higher carb days won’t put more weight on you if the calorie count doesn’t change, but you are sacrificing some muscle growth by having less protein in your diet.

Regarding the tennis question, you probably feel less "burnt" because tennis is less intense. When you play tennis, you get rest periods between serves and between games, so it isn’t the steady exertion that running is.

Lex does this to me every freaking time I post advice. He gets in just before me, and says what I was going to say.

    Thanks for the quick responses.

Lex, I was looking at tennis as HITT because I go from low to hight constantly…what do you think.

Thanks for the info on the marcos booshnoogs…I can’t afford to lose any muscle…I need to get my protein back up.

HIIT For Tennis? thats new. But I can see how that could work. I mean I’m all for anything that keeps things from becoming too routine. But I wouldn’t ditch the running. I’m just starting to get into it, and after the first time on the track it felt like my sides were at war with each other. But i’m all for anything thats fun and can act as cardio. Keep it up!
