Suddenly, I find myself doing a show!??!!

At my job, there are a few people thinking about doing the NPC  Northern Kentucky. They kept bugging me to do it and now I guess I will be in it. 

  The show is 12 weeks away!!!! Ugggh! Luckily I don’t have much bodyfat now(whew), and I’ll actually be at the top of weight range in the middle-weight class. I’ve never done anything like this before and never thought about doing it. 

I’ll start doing some Cardio next week maybe 3 times a week, and maybe I’ll take some creatine.  Still on the fence about that, even though it is a staple of most people’s nutritional plan. I really need to be in a natural show. It should be fun though.

 It’s going to be a huge learning experience, and that’s what I’m thinking of it as.  Luckily, I have the help of a few older guys that have done this many times!  Posing is what I’m worried about most.  

 I’m not really going in with high expectations, of course.  Just doing it to say that I did it.  Wish I  had more time thoogh!!!!  My legs need serious work!

A little sumthin, sumthin……………..

Since the last time I wrote, I managed to pick up another workout partner, which brings the total in our group to 3.  The good thing about that is they motivate me when I feel a subpar effort coming on. The negative aspect is that it can make your workout longer and sometimes you have to be creative in keeping the flow of the workout up to par.

Deadlifts have been increasing by the week.  I’ve been trying to focus on the form and have been feeling very strong. My new lower back strength has tremendously helped my barbell rows, squats, and T-Bar rows. Abs have been coming along great. I love training abs with weight!! That’s just about all thats been going on. Gotta go. Lets get ready for some football!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Getting There Slowly But Surely

I’ve been lifting by myself for so long that I forgot the benefits of a partner. I love working by myself.  You don’t have to compromise, and can work at your own pace.   However, having a partner once again has actually been refreshing.

In the past, I’ve shied away from deadlifts because of an inability to keep my hips down on the initial rep.  Recently, I’ve done more ab and core work than I’ve ever done, plus I’m actually stretching my super tight hamstrings, hips, and ankles.

Last week, I decided to jump back into doing deadlifts, because I’ve been seeing lots of articles lately. My new partner was all for it. It turns out that he is pretty adept with deads and squats.

At first, my form was still not the greastest. Basically, my problem this time was over-thinking instead of just doing. I was obsessing too much about the form.  My partner encouraged me to just do it and quit obsessing so much, and everything just fell into place. I could actually feel the power coming from my legs, and I was imagining my feet pushing through the floor. It was nice to not let the weight beat me today….

 

 

It’s Friday Again!

Man, have I been slackin’! I’ve been staying up too late the last couple of nights. I could’ve easily slept in this morning.  Work has caused me to miss some meals over the past 2 weeks, and female issues have been trying to derail my efforts. I woke up late today and had to haul ass to the gym. Didn’t have too much time, so I did a whole superset workout for Biceps and Triceps followed by abs.  I’m usually a medium weight , straight set kind of guy, so the supersets kicked my butt a little.  It’s always fun to do something new though.  Next up is the 20 rep squat routine. It’ll be my first time doing it so I’m gonna be seriously  hurting.

It’s Friday!

Guess I need to start getting a move on with this blog thing!  Anyway, my traps are singing today.  Man…..I did shoulders yeterday and I’m trying to catch my traps up. I’ve prioritized them, and will try to hit them from different angles. I started with dumbell shrugs, and followed that with a superset of front barbell shrugs and 75 degree lying dumbell shrugs. Yes, I am definitely feeling it.  Next week maybe I’ll throw in some behind the back barbell shrugs with some shrugs on the freemotion machine, followed by some isometrics.  New stuff is always fun!

Today is arms day!! I’m gonna try more volume for the triceps. For so long I’ve always been about moderate to heavy weight, but I think it’s time to switch it up a little. That combined with putting more effort into my eating should do the trick. I’ve been missing a few meals because of work :(   Bastards!!!

Biceps have never been a problem for me. I love it when people say if you caught your tri’s up you would have an 18-20 inch arm. No sh**.  It’s not like you can put it on over night, it takes time. 

Get to do abs today as well!!  I’ve just really started getting into abs which is a shame. My bodyfat has always been low and I have always been active, so I could kind of get away with it.  I’m actually starting to enjoy doing them, and it is great to see the improvement from week to week. 

Oh well,  gotta finish eating this oatmeal and head to the  gym.

Welcome!

I’ve never blogged before. Where do I begin??  Just like everyone else, I will never be satisfied with my developement!!  It’s nice to see the awesome physiques on Bodyspace.  They are very motivating. I’ve been pondering my weaknesses and there are just so many things to improve, such as more back thickness, some lats, deeper abs, Hamstrings and calves!!!! I admit it, I have just been plain lazy.  Hopefully this site will kick my butt into gear.  Should be fun!!
