“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

I knew it would be a challenge. But, I want it so bad… to compete and WIN, to be superfit, to motivate, to look the part, and help others so the same. I have felt so great up until this point. Like I am getting in my zone. But, the past two weeks have been painful. I am going into carb depletion and it is really hard. I feel slightly tired, a little cranky, and overall not like myself. I even had a bit of a headache today. I am hoping it is just a phase, but it remains to be seen. The bottomline is I want this and am willing to sacrifice to get there. I just need to be patient with myself and give grace. Not so easy for a driver type personality who is a perfectionist. Sometimes your greatest strength can also be your greatest hindrance. Any feedback on those of you who are there or have been would be greatly appreciated.

To all of you who are going out to celebrate tonight, two words…. ENJOY IT! Of course, we are all working towards our respective goals and aspiring to be ultra-fit. I just think sometimes we take it to the extreme and don’t give ourselves any room to breathe. This feeling of restriction creates a desire to break free and usually results in overeating or a cheat meal morphing into a cheat day or even worse cheat DAYS. So, savor that glass of cabernet and yummy chocolate, and tomorrow start your week fresh, with renewed dedication and resolve to get it done. Happy Valentine’s!

How do you go about building your business? Whether it is your clientele as a personal trainer, your clients as a nutritionist, or your network as an aspiring fitness professional, it pays to build your personal brand. A strong brand equals strong recognition; both of which lead to success.
Here are some practical ways to Build your Fitness Brand/Business:
- Identify the Top 5 Resources that have had a major impact on you and give them to potential clients or those you want to build a relationship with. This could include articles, books, CD’s, DVD’s, you name it.
- Build a Contact Database using the following categories:
· True Fans: These are your greatest supporters. Send them an email to let them know what is going on in your life. Tell them about your upcoming contest, new venture into fitness modeling, or your soon-to-be launch into the world of personal training. Be specific and describe how they can help you or make referrals.
· Connectors: These are people who are well-connected to your target audience. Send them an introduction email, arrange a meeting, and explain how your service is different. Also, you can leverage these contacts and ask them to make introductions to others for you.
· Loose Ties: There are people you have met or know through a mutual friend. Send them an article you think would benefit them and offer a free consultation/session.
- Ping the network you have built when you come across valuable information or a client opening is approaching. A great way to do this is create a blog or newsletter that adds value to your network.
- Talk about your passion wherever you go. It is important for everyone to see your excitement, because if you can’t get excited, why should they?
- Practice Abundance. Give resources away: training tips, articles, newsletters, even sessions. Once you have establishing true concern for helping someone, you will have a fan for life.
