Alright so in my last blog I wrote about how I was getting back into the swing of things…well I started having a sore throat about 4-5 days ago. I noticed on Monday that my glands were severely swollen so I went to the doctor today yesterday n it turns out I have strep throat. GREAT! Just what I need once I get all set n ready to train again. I am hoping I will be better soon..If it was just a simple sore throat I could manage but it comes with a fever, chills and nausea. I also have asthma so breathing itself is a chore right now. Good news is I am craving the gym again, can not wait to get back. BUT for now..all I can do is rest and wait it out.

Well I am back after dealing with a rough couple of months that sent my fitness goals down hill. Not using it as an excuse but I definately was not concentrating on my diet or the gym due to the situation I was in (more like situationS).
I was hoping to do a local competition on November 1st but unfortunately quit my job recently so no income = no contest. . . at least right now. My main goal I have for myself is to compete…However, right now I am concentrating on getting back on track and losing the extra weight I put on. I start school on September 2 so hopefully that will keep me on track with everything.

Figured I had not written in a little while…So far this week my workouts have been awesome! I have been getting in at least 3 hours of cardio a week and managing to weight train 5-6 days a week. I am glad the habit has come back because for a while it felt very diffcult getting back into the swing of things. Recently I dealt with some difficult personal issues which have prevented me from giving myself fully to my diet and workouts. However, now after a couple weeks of relaxation I feel much better and ready to continue my journey to achieve the body I have always wanted. I am not too behind but can physically notice some of the negative changes that have happened to my body after a couple weeks of being off my diet and exercise program. I know for the long run the rest was needed but it does feel a slight bit discouraging taking 5 steps backwards. However as Olesya Novik would say "A human body is a machine, controlled by the mind. If the mind believes it, the body will achieve it."

So far training for my Half Marathon has definately been one of the toughest things I have done and one of the worst things I could have done. Before I decided to do the Half Marathon my diet was going great and training was consistent. Now however, my diet has been pretty bad and training has been less frequent. I think it has to do a lot with the fact that I am putting off my Half Marathon training and therefore feel no reason to do anything else. I am still weightlifting but cardio now seems rare. I used to do it 45min. 5-6 days a week consisting of biking, interval training or whatever I chose. Unfortunately now I do not have the privledge of choosing and must run. Do not get me wrong I enjoy running but not 9-10 miles.
Those of us who weightlift hard know that we want our bodies to be made of fast twitch muscle fibres. All my life I have sprinted or weightlifted..Due to this and my genetic profile it is making running 14 miles very diffcult on my body. I have the cardiovascular stamina to go the 14 miles but my body is the one that is giving out. I am finding that my legs quickly get built up with lactic acid and fail out on me.
I think what I am going to do now is go back to my regular routine of weightlifting, cardio of my choice and my good diet and see if my attitude towards training changes.

Today I got back into the gym and started my running again after hurting my lower back last week. I did back, chest, abs and a 60 minute run. It has been 5 hours since I finished my workout n I am already painfully sore. My legs and back are currently killing me! I also find I am constantly starving! It is crazy what a couple days off at the gym can do to ur body!

I have finally set a goal for myself..which is to achieve my desired six pack by the end of June. After this week I am cutting out all cheat meals in order to get to my goal..this leaves me with 9 weeks of cutting 8 of which will be without slip ups. It is going to be so hard but not impossible! It is almost summer and I want to look amazing in a bikini! I am thinking my diet will remain the same as it is now and my cardio will go up due to my half marathon training. The only bad thing about that is that I have to be careful about losing muscle. However, I buy those gels that have 40g of carbs and 13g of protein and I take them as soon as I reach the 60-90 minute mark…So that should prevent muscle loss!

Just wanted to post my recipe for Protein Pancakes. This recipe can be changed to fit into your diet, that being said this is what I use:
*Add dry ingredients first
1/3 cup of oatmeal (sometimes I will split it between whole wheat flour)
1 scoop of vanilla protein powder
1 tsp of baking powder
1 packet of splenda
sprinkle of cinnamon
*Mix in wet ingredients
1/3 cup of egg whites (2 egg whites)
1 tsp of vanilla extract
add a little bit of water/milk or more egg whites if you wish until thick n fully mixed
*You can also add bananas or flax meal to the recipe
Enjoy!!!

I started my cut diet on February 15, 2008 and have been feeling okay since I started. However..the weird thing is that I am actually gaining weight because I have put on some muscle. I have been lifting really heavy doing 4 sets of 6 n using creatine. I am the type of person who gains muscle very easily especially when I lift heavy!! I think this is why my pants have been fitting tighter in the leg region. Anyways even though the scale has not really budged n in fact has gone up I have only been noticing positive changes…very strange but I am not complaining!

Today I decided I would go through my jeans and see which ones do not fit anymore…. Bad idea! I find since I have been working out my legs and butt have grown quite a bit. Now this leaves me with quite the dilemma…My jeans are so tight in the legs making it almost impossible to pull up but loose in the waist making them fall down a bit. Now..I am not a big girl the jeans are about a size 4…and the size 6 is huge on me….Maybe it is just the brand of jeans since I have the same kind…Do any of you girls out there have this problem? Or know a great jean brand that will not do this to me!! LOL I currently own American Eagle and Abercrombie n Fitch n both of those are no good for my weightlifting legs n bootie..HELP!
