Sacramento Pro Figure Updates

Saturday, November 3rd, 2007

liftstudios

Thanks to Rick Lohre for blogging some previous Sac Pro updates on Hardbody.com. Ron Avidan and I are back at the host hotel recharging camera batteries and relaxing a bit before heading back to the Finals. The show went very smoothly, everything ran quick and we even had time to grab food. The finals start at 6:30pm.

Figure breakdown:

I’d have first between MaryJo Cooke Elliott and Michelle Flake. MaryJo is six pounds better than her last show and the added fullness suits her well. Her legs are noticeably bigger and I really like the look she brought to this show. Her hair is a bit darker and shorter as well. Michelle Flake brought a much different look than we saw from her last time out. Michelle told us she’s weighing about seven pounds less than last year’s Olympia. Her face is not as drawn in as it has in the past. I like the look she brought to the stage today. The top two will be between Michelle and MaryJo. Third through fifth is a toss up between Andrea Dumon, Darlina Brown and Sherrie Salvadori. Ron and I have a slight differing of how we see it going down tonight.

I’d place it:
1. MaryJo Cooke
2. Michelle Flake
3. Sherrie Salvadori
4. Darlina Brown
5. Andrea Dumon

Ron has it:
1. Michelle Flake
2. MaryJo Cooke
3. Darlina Brown
4. Andrea Dumon
5. Sherrie Salvadori

Michelle has impressed everyone at the show and she will definitely qualify for the Olympia her first time back on stage. Momma Flake done us all proud. Ron did an extensive interview with her that we’ll be posting up later. Huong Arcinas looked good in her debut and showed that a shorty can hang in the pro ranks. Huong is 4′10¾” (can’t forget that extra three quarters of an inch). The other pro making her debut, April Fortier should land in the 8-10 placing. She could be a little tighter but still a decent showing for her pro debut. Look for her to be a big sharper next week in Kentucky.

Michelle Mayberry tried her hand at the Figure division and while looking good, agreed should could have been a bit a fuller. Michelle turned pro this year and made her debut at the Europa a couple months ago. Look for her to go back to fitness where she will be a strong contender in next year’s shows.

IFBB Figure Pro top six at prejudging.

More updates to come. Who will be more accurate in their predictions… Ron or I? We shall see in a couple of hours.

2 Days Out From Sacramento Pro Figure!

Thursday, November 1st, 2007

bbcom_developer

I received this email from IFBB Figure Pro Heather Mae French this morning, and am posting it here with her permission for your reading pleasure!

"Good Morning Everyone!

Well, I am two days out and have been getting through my training and diet ~ especially since I have a daughter and have packed tons of Halloween bags, helped with classroom parties and have work on top of that! This sport is so much fun though. You know our sport is a little different than other sports such as "game days" for others - most athletes show up on a game day and compete in physical games one on one or in teams - where as for us we have to show up EVERYDAY.

blogTOC2007-ProFigure026.jpg

No one can see us get on the Stair Machine, have late night cardio sessions, prepare our daily food to eat every few hours, hit the gym hard like no other and still hold jobs, have family time, friends etc… our GAME DAY IS EVERYDAY! We just show up on competition day and bring the package we all spent 8-12-16 weeks preparing for….. that’s why I feel so darn great when I am standing up on stage.

As long as I know in my heart I did the best I could and have improved on what my goal was that I intended to work on then I have won no matter what. Actually everyone of us up there are winners - for what we endure and conquer, there is no other way around it but simply we are ALL strong, beautiful, smart-minded women! See you in Sacramento!”

Sincerely,

Heather Mae French

I received this email this morning from IFBB Figure Pro Kristi Tauti regarding this weekend’s IFBB Sacramento Pro Figure contest, and am reposting it here with permission for your viewing pleasure!

"Hi Everyone,

I am really looking forward to this show.  I have been working hard with my trainer to make the necessary changes to my physique.

img_4692blog.jpg

I am definitely ready for Sacramento, as I am coming in with a fuller, more conditioned look.  I did four shows back-to-back earlier this year so it has been nice to just focus on training for the Sacramento.”  Smiley

IFBB Figure Pro Debut - April Fortier

Tuesday, October 30th, 2007

liftstudios

We received word from another NPC USA Figure champ that she will be making her debut in 2007. April Fortier won the Figure D Class earlier this year in Las Vegas.

She’s one of the rare competitors who has competed in both fitness and figure. April placed third at the Team Universe fitness tall class as well as third in the Figure Nationals D Class. Prior to that she placed fourth in both fitness and figure at the 2007 Junior Nationals. April’s had a busy yet successful 2007 competitive season. Fourth to Third to First… Where will she fair in the next level?

When asked how she feels about competing for the first time as a pro she responded with, “I’m so thrilled to be competing in my first pro shows.” April promises to knock out socks off when she steps on stage this weekend at the IFBB Sacramento Pro. She will also be competing in the Kentucky Pro figure show in a couple of weeks.

Mirror, Mirror in my hand…Where O Where will I land?

Good luck, April, in your IFBB pro figure debut!

Toney Takes Sacramento!

Saturday, February 24th, 2007

secondfocus

More to follow, but Toney Freeman won the Sacramento Pro. Silvio Samuel took second, Hidetada Yamagishi third, Ahmad Haider the number four spot and Marcus Haley came in at number five.

Heather Policky made a hard dash into the top women’s bodybuilder spot with Antoinette Norman taking the top light weight women’s bodybuilding win. She beat the crowd pleasing and stunning Cathy LeFrancois by only one point. That was a really tight race. The finals photos are up in the galleries now so take a look!

Sac Pro Pre And It Looks Like….

Saturday, February 24th, 2007

secondfocus

A new locomotive came through Sacramento today and it is called Toney Freeman on track to make 2007 a big year for the X-Man. The call outs put big Toney in a clear number one spot. He looks much more on track than he did last week at the Iron Man. He is lean and hard. So will he keep the conditioning to make it to the Arnold? We shall see. But right now it looks like he has the 2007 Sacramento Pro in his gym bag.

Toney Freeman at Sac 2007

Now it looks like Silvio Samuel is headed for the number two spot and it is well deserved. Maybe overlooked at the Iron Man last week, Silvio looks darn good. The guy has obviously worked hard last week under the watchful eye of Milos Sarcev. From the call outs today, it looks like the second place stop for him.

Silvio-Sac

The number three spot will be a tougher call just based on the call outs. But the other top picks were Marcus Haley, Ahmad Haider and Hidetada Yamagishi. So we will see what tonight brings!
