Check out the results from the 2009 NGA Grand Teton Invitational & Pro Gold here.

39 amateur competitors and 11 pros for a combined total of 50 from all over Idaho, Montana, Washington,  and Utah showed up in Idaho Falls for the 6th annual NGA Grand Teton Invitational Bodybuilding-Figure Competition and 2nd annual PRO GOLD.   One amateur Men’s Overall winner and the women’s figure overall winner both qualified to apply for pro status.   Only two of the three women’s open weight classes had competitors,  so the overall women’s winner was not able to apply for pro status this year.

The pre-judging audience witnessed some very tough women’s figure and bodybuilding classes.   The stage seemed extremely small when 10 of the best men’s light-heavyweight competitors lined up.   The men’s and women’s pro divisions had the spectators whistling and calling out their favorite numbers.  No one could believe that those were teens standing on stage when 4 of them posed their hearts out.

The auditorium was packed with standing-room only for the evening finals.  Not only did the audience come to see the best bodies in the Northwest but to be dazzled by the guest poser, Earl THE PEARL Snyder, NGA veteran pro and a judge of the event.   Off the stage he jumped and into the audience for some extra close-up posing.  The show ran smoothly with a few glitches; delays in posing music as a few CDS  could not be read by the school’s sound equipment and an input error in the Women’s Figure Tall Division resulted in trophies initially being handed out to the wrong competitors.    The judges caught this error so the competitors were asked to leave their trophies and exit the stage.   The official score sheets from pre-judging were reviewed and it was discovered that the competitors were input into the computer in a different order than they were on paper so scores were not matched up with the competitor.   The results were different and the trophies were handed out to the correct competitors on stage.  Hats off to the figure competitors who acted with absolute dignity after this correction was made.

Tough decisions were  made by the judges when the open weight class winners in the men’s division posed down to see who would be the one overall winner qualifying to apply for pro status and the two division winners in Women’s Figure walked the stage to see who would get the chance at applying for pro status.
