Thanks to everyone for the support!
I have been overjoyed for days now for my husband, Mike Horn, who won the Overall Masters title at the IFBB North American Championships this past weekend. He is the one who inspired me to start competing. I cannot thank him enough for all his has done for me (I am so in love with him)!
He is always there for me helping me with my food, training, suits, posing, etc. With us it has been sort of like a team sport. I also help coach him at times. Over the years we have kept each other going. I am not sure if ever seriously thought of doing a national show until I did the NPC Fitness Nationals in 1998.
My mom, Diana Sewell (www.dianesewell.com), was also a big help. She is an inspiration. She is a very positive person and is a personal coach herself. She did her first NPC figure show in Mobile, Alabama on May 20, 2007 and won the Over 50 division at the NPC Steel World Bodybuilding Fitness & Figure Championships. I am proud of her. ![]()

Alabama had the most athletes present ever at this national show. Kim Bergman, Stacy Seals (7th Open Light Heavy), Robert Calin (Top 10 Open Heavy), Moris Pruett and Ron Wedgeworth (Top 10 in Masters Middle), and Mike & I. It was great to have a bunch a friends there from our state. Big thanks to Robert, Kym, Kelly and her daughter. I know they’re busy with their own family and you took time to help us with our son, Steel, at the show.
I respect all the athletes who live the life. I was good to see friends like Jennifer Myer again. Toni Hatcher looked good, too. We ran into Ann Pratt and her husband again and he always has feedback. I did not even get a chance to say ‘hi’ to Lois Powell and others - there were so many people backstage and it ran really fast!
Debbie Judy is always trying to help people out backstage. Bree Marsh & Olga Barthlett got to celebrate doing their first national show. I was nice to meet new friends, too, like Mo from SC and Jude Clark. Nancy Georges looked good. I wish her all the best.
I have so many people to thank including my workout partner, Alisa Kowitz. I would also like to thank the trainers who work for us, Annette, Dawn, Michelle, Brad, Jennifer, and Dennis, for taking care of the gym while we were gone - they all compete too. Thank you all for your support, kind words, and encouragement!
I would also like to thank all the judges who give of their time and talents. Thanks also to all the judges who gave me good suggestions including Jim Rockell and the judges at Physique Critique like Ropeman, Linda Hoyte Wood, Vicki Gates and Eric Hillman.

Jan and Mike,
I am so proud to be a part of your team. I share your joy and I feel your accomplishments are mine also. You have imparted so much wisdom and knowledge in me, not to mention anyone who is around you for any lenght of time. You teach everyone that ask. Do you know what that means to us that really want to learn? I hope I can do the same to those who ask of me. Mike, you were already a PRO to all of us at PTN. Jan, your dedication surpasses any athlete I know. You are my inspiration . Without you believing in me, I would have never fulfilled my dream. Thank you for all you are , and all you are going to be. I love you guys, Dawn Wood
