I tore the pcl ligament in my knee in September ‘08 while training for my first MMA fight. Now, i feel that i am healthy enough to begin training again. Problem is im really out of shape from sitting on my ass and nursing my knee. It will be hard but i feel i can be ready by middle-late January. I am going to fight at 155 lbs which will cost me the loss of hard earned muscle, but i feel that it is worth it. I want to get my base weight to around 165-170 lbs. This means lots of circuit training and tons of abs on top of my MMA training haha. All the hard work will pay off though when i get my hand raised in the middle of the octagon

It has been well over two years since my last wrestling match. I hated wrestling in high school. The only reason I did it in the first place was because i knew it would make me a better football player and all around more athletic. I hated the 100+ degree padded wall room i practiced in and how the practices were so intense that after they were over, I couldnt see from one end of the room to the other due to the steam coming off of everyones body.

But now that I am in college, for some reason I miss those days. I miss being pushed to the absolute limits. I miss the pain. I miss the fight with my insides before a match, knowing that it was just going to be me and my oppenent in the circle, surrounded by hundreds of people, both wanting to defeat each other. I miss the feeling of victory, the referee raising my arm, and the crowd cheering or booing. I cant get it out of my mind. A sport such as wrestling will always stay with you after it has been a part of your life for so long.

This is why I have decided to join my college’s wrestling team, to feel the pride that i once felt before. I will train harder than i ever have before. I want my opponents to fear me when they see me step on the mat. To prepare for next season I started cutting, which can be seen in my pictures. I am also planning on wrestling in some open tournaments this summer, so I can shake the rust off. God be with anyone who has to step on the mat with me…
