Bodyfat Calipers?
Okay, I have been trying to measure my bodyfat to better gauge my progress. I bought some skinfold calipers a few months ago and have been trying to get an accurate reading, but am unsure about my results. It came with a booklet that looked like it was written in the 50`s. Nonetheless, I followed what it said about which areas to measure. (tricep, bicep, abdomen, and back, just under the shoulder blade). According to these results I am at around 18% bodyfat, which seems to makes sense. Just because I wanted to make sure that I was doing it right, I looked at some of the articles on BB.com. I came across a few but one stuck out. It was basically explaining how to use the skin folds accurately. The problem is, the areas, they have to measure were totally different( chest, abdomen, thigh). When I used that and put the numbers in a program they have on the page with my weight(254) and age (30), it said my bodyfat was 13.32% 33.8 fat weight, and 240.68 lean weight. Of course, if it was accurate that would be awesome but it just wouldn`t make sense to me.
I guess my question is if anyone out there uses these skinfold calipers and what measuring techniques they use, give them a more accurate result?
