Increase in Size

June 24, 2008

…Well hello ladies.

I realised late last week that I had forgot to actually weight myself and take new measurements of all my muscles. So I got around to doing it last night and I must say there was some bloody good news – in my opinion. Since I started with a decent workout routine and eating properly I have began to gain size.  For instance – my chest has increased by 3inches in less than 2months. In two-weeks of adding “arms” to the routine I have put on half-an-inch, my thighs have increased by about an inch and the weight around my hips has began to fall off.

I’m really happy today about the progress I have made in the last 6 weeks and I am looking forward to starting my full-body routine in July.

June Body Weight and Measurements.

June 6, 2008

I decided that on the first full weekend of each month I will put up my new weight, as well as my new measurements across the range of my body. I’ll be doing it tonight between 8 and 9PM as well as taking some new photos. Judging by the comments from people, I am more toned then I was when I started and well I actually look different so hopefully the measurements will reflect this.

Wish me luck.

I’ll update the blog later if I have began to move in the right direction.

Total body makeover.

May 21, 2008

Step 1: Begin an exercise regime, with long and short-term goals.

Step 2:  Re-train my stomach after being ill and find a healthy eating regime.

Step 1: This one, I am feeling really good about. So far, I have stuck to Rippetoe’s Regime of exercises, three-times a week and I am feeling better about it. I am also beginning to look a lot better. I’ve gained a large amount of muscle mass and even dropped some fat off of my body. I am starting to get much leaner, which I am really happy about. For instance, I have began to see my abdominal muscles – there’s a line now down the middle as well as one either side of them.

My arm muscles actually are relatively the same size, or at least the muscles are bigger but I’ve dropped fat off of my arms so they look the same roughly. But I have noticed I am starting to not fit some of my tighter tops. My legs are definitely more toned, as is my back.

Step 2:  I think this is probably the most important one. Even if I did not start step 1, an improvement in my diet would of course result in an improvement of overall healthy. So today, (Wednesday) I began to look around the Internet and really look into finding something that’d improve my health, but also a regime I could enjoy.

About two-hours ago I settled on something called: MediterrAsian. Two different regimes based around Asia and the Mediterranean, cutting down on diary and red meat. Replacing them instead with healthier alternatives, such as chicken, fish, etcetera.

The two different food Pyramids are as follows:

and

I really like the look of it and the website: http://www.mediterrasian.com/

It seems to include a lot of foods I like, recipes that look interesting and possibly enough variety to keep me interested. Especially if I switch them around every couple of months should help to keep things fresh constantly.

Another day, another day…

May 18, 2008

Where do I start?
This week has been fairly different. I have focused primarily on my diet – which is good. I’ve gone from barely being able to eat one meal a day of primarily junk food, to being able to eat at least two-if-not-three meals a day of healthier food. I worked out the best way to do it was to slowly cut myself down.
I used to drink absolutely litres of Coca Cola so I decided to just cut it down to one or two glasses, then one glass and finally replace it with water completely.  I treat myself to two “cheat meals” a week, but that’s due to the fact I go out for meals with friends. I have also removed alcohol from my diet completely.
As for as my workout goes: Amazing. I feel so good, it’s unbelievable – I hit all three workouts on time and I was able to improve in every workout again once more.  I am still semi-concerned with my arms though; they just don’t seem to be changing at-all. However, I have been reassured several times that they will improve given time. But it’s just really annoying – I wanted to be ready for this summer.
But I suppose Patience is a Virtue.
I am feeling mentally stronger, as well as physically stronger since I began working out. I’ve also began to wonder on the rest of my life and finally focused on what I wanted to do.
Three weeks into this and I am feeling great.

Form, Form and more Form.

May 13, 2008

Hello everyone,  I am making my “weekly” blog, so that I can attempt to keep things updated.  Today was a better day than normal. I went for a light jog before I went for breakfast. I had some cereal, roughly 10gs of protein.

I had a simple lunch, (4) egg omelette with mushrooms, sausages and toast. I then just relaxed for an hour and did my workout. Three new personal bests and then a protein shake. I put too much water in I do believe, because it didn’t taste very nice at all. Then went back out for a walk, headed to the pub with a friend and had a half-pint. I am cutting out alcohol all together, in the next week and then just had Orange Juice. Went to the gym after and then spent an hour there with a personal trainer. According to him, I have my form as well as he’s seen for a long time. Which made me happy.

Then came home and created dinner. Nothing special, it was just rich, vegetables and chicken but I used a curry stock cube on the rice to give it some flavour. Got rid of as much fats I could and maximized my carbohydrates and protein. It tasted pretty good, so I was happy with that. Then I spoke to my ex, we split up Sunday. We (I) decided that we’d take a break for a while and see where things stand in the future. I then got insulted and called everything under the sun, which placed a downer on my evening. It evidently seems that I only meet mental women and wasted 14months of my life on the crazy broad.

Thought I’d get the blog sorted before bed.  Plans for the week:
Stick to Rippeetoe’s exercise regime
Avoid women as best I can.
Wish me luck.

Why I am starting.

May 5, 2008

Hi there, thank you for taking the time to read my  blog and check out my profile.

Where I am now: Just  after my 15th birthday, I was taken ill with a problem related to my internal  organs. But annoyingly, I was unable to have the exact issue located and  treated. After several operations, explorative and invasive in an attempt to  locate the problem in June of 2008 (when I was 21) they found out what it was.  As of last month, they have been able to treat the condition and two-weeks ago  I got an all clear from the doctors and can move on with my life.

Why I am doing this: When I  was younger, I was very active, I cycled, enjoyed playing football (soccer),  rugby-football, track and field and anything I could do. This all changed when  I was taken ill – I lost my place on all these teams, I lost my chance at  playing sports professionally, ended up getting kicked out of school. Since  then, I have began to re-build my life – while I was ill, I passed my GCSE’s  and then 5 A Level’s, next year (2009) I will be attending University to train  to be a teacher and I thought now was the perfect time to sort out my body.

What I want to achieve: Ideally,  I want to gain some of my confidence back – which I have felt diminish over the  last few years. I don’t desire, to become a model, to become a World Famous  Bodybuilder. I want to become happy with myself and I have a perfect self-image  in my head.

The aspects of me, I desire to change are:

  • Biceps/Triceps to between 17 and 19inches.
  •

  • Forearms to between 12 and 14inches.
  •

  • Pectoral Muscles.
  •

  • A decent, wash-board stomach with nice abs and an over-all  improvement in definition.

I am aiming to achieve this all by September of 2008.
Thank you for reading,

  P. J. Sanford
