Rambling :o)

March 31, 2009

I love getting stronger! Today I benched 60 lbs and deadlifted 95 lbs, which are definitely personal records. Being able to lift heavy helps me out with my job, and it’s a lot of fun. :o ) I like being able to lift heavy…it definitely surprises people because I’m so small. I love surprising people. ;)
I don’t really feel like buying a gym membership when all I’m missing out of my home gym is a squat rack, but I miss my squats! I used to be able to do 175 lbs back in high school, and I know I can get back to that level someday! Must search for a rack now. :)

Umm, let’s see…diet is going good so far, splitting it up into six meals rather than five has definitely worked out for the best. I’ve turned my PWO shake into a lovely little nighttime dessert. Add a spoonful of dark chocolate cocoa to Dymatize Elite Whey in Cafe Mocha, blend it with ice, and tada! Makes me happy inside! LOL

This weekend I’ll be helping out my sister at a booth at an arts festival in Dallas, so I gotta try to stick to my diet as much as I can, with a little wiggle room here and there. I’m packing a lot of my food, so I should be set. Just making sure I’m getting in all my workouts before the time arrives…and then four day weekend from work! I’m very excited.

My six week goals, and hope for my family

February 25, 2009

I’ve had enough time to gauge what I need to work on in terms of my diet and training, so here it is! My short term goals!

Training: Improve upper body strength, it is pathetic at the moment. It would definitely help out at work if I could improve in this area. On the cardio end, improve on my mile performance. Even if it’s a few seconds, that is fine.

Diet: Maintain clean eating! My meal plan is down pat, I just need to stay consistent! And learn how to cook. :)

On a different note, my father has been freaking out because he thought he had a mild heart attack two days ago (he has a history of heart issues thanks to a bad diet). It was really a Charlie Horse haha, but it was a wake-up call for him. I’m going to compile recipes from my favorite magazines into a "family cookbook" for my mom to use. It’ll help out the whole family, and it’ll give us some new foods for dinner time! Plus, maybe I’ll learn how to cook. :P I really want my parents to live long and healthy lives. There are considerable roadblocks, such as heart issues and a history of diabetes, and my mother’s herniated disks, but if I can help them at all, I’m willing to do it! Kind of annoyed with my mom saying things like "your so skinny!" and me saying "you can do it too!" Maybe one day she can say "I did it!"

Making clean eating work during stress

August 6, 2008

I had a very stressful day at work yesterday. I usually don’t.

My manager gave me a HUGE lecture about things she didn’t need to lecture me on. I was MAD because she questioned my work ethic when I work with another co-worker, but we get things done twice as fast! I bust my butt every day, so her lecturing me about a moot point really pissed me off.

After a stressful day, all I wanted to do was sit down to a bowl of Honey Bunches of Oats or a bowl of cookies and cream ice cream.

Instead, I had a protein bar and a handful of almonds.

Clean eating is killing me, haha. I LOVE my carbs, and I didn’t realize how much of a sugar addict I was until I started cutting back on it. The only sugar I’m getting is from lactose, pretty much. If the dairy wasn’t in my diet I would probably be miserable. Luckily, I can lose on dairy such as yogurt and skim milk.

I bought about 4 lbs of skinless boneless chicken breasts at work, and when I got home I started cutting it up into individual portions and freezing it. So I have enough for about 1.5/2 weeks. Now, cooking it up into something good is the next task.

I’m not a big chicken/protein eater in general, so this is a big hurdle for me. I’m trying to limit the carbs at night, but when I’m craving Mexican food (a staple in my house), it’s difficult. I just need to find good recipes so I won’t trade my chicken for cereal (that can wait until my cheat meal on Sunday).

But the good thing is, my Dymatize Elite Whey came in today! 5 lbs of Cafe Mocha, sounds delish. :) Maybe my daily shake will get me through the sugar withdrawals…

Todays Workout:

Pushups - 6X5X3X3XMAX (6…LOL)

Bench Press - 5×5 (58 lbs)

DB Pullover - 5×5 (15 lbs)

DB Flyes on incline - 5×5 (15 lbs)

HIIT (5 minutes: 1 min @ 5MPH/1 min @ 6MPH…then 15 minutes of power walking XD)

Sounds like light weights, but the last rep was rough every time! But at least I’m upping weight now. :) I started my first week with the standard 3×10 to get my body accustomed to lifting again. It’ll be harder to up weight on leg exercises because I don’t have a squat rack (although I’m convincing my dad to buy one for our home gym). I LOVE squats and BB lunges. My max on squat long ago was 175. I had a great butt then also. XD

Cardio is a different story altogether. I either REALLY like cardio, or REALLY like lifting, I can’t like both at the same time haha. Also, I can run distance but I can’t do sprints. And 6MPH is sprinting for me lol. Although 5MPH is starting to seem slow after running 6’s so we’ll see.

The obligatory intro, please don’t fall asleep.

August 3, 2008

So, I am jumping into the world of bodybuilding. I am so excited. :D

It’s not that I’m really new to the whole thing. I learned how to lift in high school, and I really enjoyed it. I started becoming active in high school through competitive dancing, lifting, and running. I kept it up in college, but due to a finance issue, I had to leave. The stress from worrying about money and not having the time/motivation to keep up with fitness caused me to gain 10 lbs. I’m pretty short, 4′11 if you round up, so that is a LOT of fat for a small girl to handle.

Long story short, I’m on the path now to eating clean, dropping fat, and getting some serious muscle. I’ve come to admire ladies such as Jamie Eason, Nicole Costa, and Alicia Marie. I’m a bit scared that I might fall short on my goals, but it’s only day two of my clean eating regimen so I think I’m jumping the gun a bit. I’ve been working out this last week and I have been SORE. I love it. :)

I couldn’t do ab exercises though because my new bellybutton piercing is healing. Tomorrow I should be cleared to do them again. I’ll be very careful though, I don’t want to rip anything.

Now I am anxiously waiting for my new protein powder to come in after returning some shitty tasting one (I hope Dynamatize tastes as great as I’m hearing it is), and I’m looking around for sales on chicken breast. I’m gonna be buying a LOT of chicken from now on…
