I’m gonna be fat forever

So I amped up the cardio and I hate cardio and I have gained 3lbs, for something that is supposed to be so good.  Ugh healthy eating and exercise and not a single change in measurements and the pounds just keep going up or staying the same.  I know it’s only been a week since I started doing more cardio but still.  In case anyone wants to know what I’m doing for cardio 30 mins on the treadmill (run for 3mins, walk for 1min-trying to increase how long I can run), 1-2 hrs of pole or chair dancing (cardio that’s actually fun), or 10-15mins sprinting.  I’m not giving up but it’s like after busting your butt after an 11hr work day to go to the gym for 1-1.5 hrs you want to see something worth continuing instead what I see is worth giving up.  These are the times where I can find no motivation…no results…visually or in the measurements/scale, why keep doing this.

DON’T GIVE UP!!!! Its a marathon not a sprint. Hang in there. We all face adversity.

Let me just say DO NOT give up on yourself sweetie!! I went through a huge weight fluctuation about 8 years ago (when I say fluctuation, I mean I got very very heavy). Anyone who tells you weight loss is easy, or a pill will make you loose weight is doing you a huge disservice ( not trying to be discouraging, but the hard work has amazing rewards!). You did not mention what your current diet is like. From the looks of what you have stated, you may be doing TOO much cardio right now. Your body is a creature of habit, and the only thing it understands is that it needs to survive. If your caloric intake is too low and your caloric expenditure is too high, then your body shuts down (meaning it thinks it is in starvation mode and will not allow you to burn calories). A great tool is to find out what your "resting metabolic rate" is. This is what your body burns each day simply by being alive/awake. From there, it is as simple as calories in/calories out. I know you have heard that terminology, and it doesn’t need to be much more complicated than that right now for you. The ultimate idea is to trick the body into being efficient and working. This can be done by cycling your calories, and even cycling carb/fat/protein proportions daily. HIIT cardio is also awesome (less time doing cardio, more intensity put out). You can research it on the web. Point is, listen to your body, the plateau you may have reached may be a sign of something. GOOD LUCK!!

You just need to stick with it, and the lbs will come off. Dont get discouraged. The real answer is in slowly converting over to healthier habits all around, eating and exercising. Quick results quickly dissapear, anyway. Get some kewl new workout clothes, look in the mirror and call yourself an athlete, give yourself credit everytime you eat a healthy, modest meal, and you will see the changes. I guarantee it.

You can do it. When you think you can’t and you need somewhere to turn….come here to bb, and get the motivation and support you need. And remember, it will take a lot of hard work….but you can do it, it just isn’t going to happen overnight.
