Starting anew
Marathon done, time to look forward. I’ve started putting together a race schedule for 2009, with an emphasis on 5Ks, 10Ks, and half marathons. Right now I don’t see going to Boston to do the marathon in 2009. My time qualifies me for the 2010 marathon as well, so maybe I’ll do it then.
Weight this a.m. 172.8. BF 16.9%. Waist 36.75. Slight movement in the right direction. Have to keep eating well.
Last night my calves still felt like they had rocks in them, but I ran anyway with the running group. I skipped the intervals and just ran steadily with some other recovering marathoners. About 5 miles total. It felt good, even if the legs were still very tight.
I may run a 5K in early January, but right now I haven’t begun training for anything, and I like it that way. I’ll just concentrate on my diet, some pushups, and getting gently back into my weekly running regimen. And family and the holidays, of course!

Hope to see you at Boston 2010. Even if I don’t qualify in May, my running club has 5 slots foor Boston, and I would petition them for a spot.

That would be great! I definitely want to go someday, but I think I’m not quite up to it this time around, and it doesn’t fit with my plan to focus on getting faster rather than running really long races.

Wow! Can’t believe you ran so soon after your first marathon! I remember I was so sore that for about three days, I literally had to grip the handrail to assist me going down stairs, LOL! Glad you are not so disabled! Congratulations on your first marathon, and finishing it in your goal time! Whoo-hoo! Still thinking about an ultra? Or maybe I should ask you in a couple months, LOL!

Sounds like you’re moving in the right direction with the weight/bf% stuff (I still say it’s muskulls gain!
), and you have some fantastic goals ahead! I hope you have a wonderful holiday season and continue to rock it with the running in 2009!
