Holding pattern

My weight loss program is going nowhere.  Almost, anyway.  I weighed 171.8 this morning.  But I was bad again last night.  Chocolate chip cookies don’t mix well with any diet plan.

Running still on track though.  I ran 7 miles yesterday afternoon in 87 degree heat.  Total time about 1:02.   About 8:51 pace overall.  Pace over most of it was a little slower than than, because I ran one half mile interval in 3:48 and one mile interval around 8 minutes.  I didn’t want to push the pace too much because (a) I already have had a high intensity workout this week (Tuesday) and (b) it was far too hot.

I’ve decided not to do the 5K this evening, to give my legs a little break from the intense interval workout on Tuesday.  Instead, I’m going to do a long run this weekend — maybe try for 17 miles — and try to get in one short speed workout before a 5K or 10K coming up on Labor Day.  I will probably run the 5K to try to beat my PR of 20:28 and try to get under 20 minutes.

At the rate you’re going, you’ll be running a marathon in no time! Still thinking about the Cal International marathon? I hear that’s a fast course… BTW - That’s REALLY impressive time for 7 miles in 87 degree weather! Ick! There was probably humidity, too. Keep up the great work!
