Getting back on track

Weight down to 170.2, so I’m undoing some of the damage from my short vacation.  Waist at 35.1, so I haven’t really lost ground there.

Yesterday’s running workout was a great workout.  Running hard leaves me  with much the same feeling as weight lifting — sore in a good way.

It was a bit eye opening to run with some of the other people in the group.  One guy, who was 30, was running his mile intervals in under 6 minutes — a lot faster than me.  Another was running at about the same pace as me, but he’s 51, seven years older.  I was very impressed.

Did some pushups this morning, but in general I’ve scaled the strength training way back while I focus on diet and running.

Wow. Mile intervals at 6 min/mile! And I’m happy when I can run 5:30 min/mile pace for 15 seconds! :-)

LOL at Wendy’s comment!! I definitely have some damage control to do from the vacay, but glad to hear you had an excellent time and you didn’t get too far off track at all - awesome!!

I heard that American River is a great first ultra–relatively flat. I haven’t quite decided if I am going to do that or not. I already told John I would do Tahoe Rim Trail 50 with him, and that is in July. I don’t want to do too much, especially if we decide to do a 100. And while ultra running hurts a bit more than marathons, you do get to walk quite a bit, so that somehow makes it easier mentally (well at least for me!). Here’s a great website that you should check out. There is a ton of great advice. The training for ultras is a little different than training for marathons, but this website covers it all! Of course, you can also write to John or me if you have additional questions. http://www.ultrunr.com/
