Welcome!
This is my first blog. I’m new to this, so if you’re reading, bear with me until I get the hang of it all.
I turned 55 last week. It’s hard to believe I’m as old as I am. In my mind, I’m still 25 (my best year ever, in my humble opinion). My mirror belies that image, however, so I’ll have to come to grips with the fact that I’m (in the words of woman I ran into at a nightclub once) "an older gentlemen". Nothing like a few well-chosen words to bring you face-to-face with reality.
At any rate, about a year ago, I decided that I wanted to get back to the body I had when I was 30. Then, I weighed 175 pounds, had 12% bodyfat, and could run flat out for a mile without getting seriously winded. I may never be able to achieve that goal, but I’m going to give it my all. As Joseph Heller said in Catch-22, "I’m going to live forever, or die in the attempt."
So far, I’ve lost 35 pounds of unhealthy bodyfat. I’ve still got about 30 pounds to go, but I’m eating better, exercising like a madman, and am making steady progress. If anyone wants to offer words of encouragement or advice, I’m all attention. Wish me luck. I’m going to need all that I can get.
