Injury update

April 11, 2009

I had a session with an osteopath today and luckily i havent done any serious damage. They gave an examination and said i am stiff as a board and i have overworked myself as before christmas the only exercise i was really doing was skateboarding and then all of a sudden i started kickboxing and lifting weights seriously. I moved at too much of a pace i guess. Also for the weight i have been lifting i dont have enough muscle mass yet and thats led to me straining my shoulders. Ive been recommended to do no exercise at all until i come back for a check up in two weeks. Another suggestion was also to drop all my weight to the level that my shoulders are at and improve them all together rather than letting one area increase over overs because i feel i can take more. Its pretty dissapointing but its not bad news so im still positive and counting the days to get back into it.

Injuries

April 10, 2009

Just as you think your making good progress something always steps in to cause a setback. Last week i must have strained my shoulders and not really realised as i kept on working out and training. My first real worrying sign was at kickboxing when i couldnt keep my guard up for more than ten seconds at a time. After this the clinch came for me when i had to completely stop using my weights on wednesday after doing bench press and getting an incredible aching pain in both of my shoulders. This has been the big deciding factor in getting myself checked out with a specialist as it is just a new pain to add to my existing back, knee and hip ones. My appointment is on saturday so fingers crossed none of them are bad. Its very frustrating to know i wont  be using my weights for a couple of weeks at least now.
