Painful Day

Well, I have diagnosed myself with overtraining and given myself today and all of next week off from lifting to try and let my body recover from the intense workouts of the last month. My lifting crew of 8 is still working out in my shop so I designed today’s lifting schedule and supervised the session. Very painful cuz I want to workout with them. I hate missing a day, much less a week, but I know my body needs it. Today’s lift was something new for us. Friday’s are always Gun Days, but I designed the entire session to be an Interval Session with all the lifts mixed in with High Intensity Cardio stations and Ab stations. It worked well. Will do the same next week for Chest and Leg days.

Supplement Advice Anyone?

Supplement Help. I have used BSN in the past and MuscleTech now. Limited results with both…probably cuz I am a stereotypical hardgainer. MuscleTech upsets my stomach. Any advice on other supplement brands that have helped you would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

My Wife Hates Me

Ok, she actually really, really loves me and I love her…except when she bakes. Tonight, CC Cookies…my archenemy. Or last week…brownies. Dang that woman! Of course I am the one who takes a stack of 5 and a glass of milk. She doesn’t force them down my throat. Will I ever get the abs I want with her around:)

Taking a Break

After the last difficult week and today’s leg day I have come to the conclusion that I have been overtraining. I will take the rest of this week off from lifting. Next week I will only do MMA in the evenings and no lifting during the week. I want to see if I can stop this downward spiral of poor sleep and no strength gains. Getting weaker actually. Need my body to recover before I move on.

High Intensity Interval Training - HIIT

In addition to my lifting I am beginning and ending each workout with HIIT. But the "Latest Workout" tracker doesn’t have a place to add that. So in addition to today’s workout - Chest and Abs - here is my HIIT.

Began w. a 5 min. warmup - 5 stations at 1 min each. Jumprope, Heavy bag, Stairmaster, Treadmill & Jumping Jacks

Ended workout w. 12 min. - 6 stations at 2 min each. Jumprope, Heavy bag, Jumping Jacks, Elliptical machine and Box Steps. Good sweat.

Overtraining?

I need some help from you experienced lifters. For the past 4 weeks, since I have added martial arts training to my fitness schedule I have seen decreased strength on lifting days. I lift M,T, & Fr and do MMA 3 nights a week. I am 42 and just wonder if I am overloading my body. In addition I haven’t been sleeping well. I just wonder if I am taxing my body too much too fast. Will take any advice I can get.

2.5 Pounds!

Well it looks like that’s the damage from Thanksgiving. Today was the first day I was able to weigh since being over at the in-laws for the holidays. Hopefully my metabolism will take care of most of it and today I get back in the gym to take care of the rest. Hope you are all having good luck getting rid of your excess.

Traveled to Spokane to spend Thanksgiving with my in-laws. Since I worked SO hard earlier in the week I am letting my body recover. Played flag football last night and basketball this morning, both w my nephews. Love to play ball with the 20 somethings. Had a great time. Hope all of you are working off all the pie you’ve been eating:)
