Life Sucks!

April 15, 2008

As many know, I have been prepping for the Mile High for some time now. And I am almost ready for it. BUT, unfortunately I can’t compete in the Mile High. Why? I have a jack ass of a room mate that hasn’t been paying his bills. So I have had to put more money for bills. Money that was getting saved for the competition. Talk about life sucking. Now I have to wait until either 1. October for the Colorado Natural or 2. move out to New Hampshire.

So, now I have to start bulking up again. But I am going to be bigger than hell. I am planning on weighing about 230-240 lbs and go down to 210 by contest time.

Guys Night Out for Wrestlemania 24!

March 30, 2008

It has been almost 6 years since I went out with friends to a bar or restaurant. Mainly because I am always in the gym or at work or at home helping my beautiful wife with the kids and spending time with her. Last time I had a guys night out was for my bachelor party when I was in the U.S. Navy. We docked in N.J. and we went to the WWE restaurant in N.Y. Damn it has been a while.

So, because I am a huge wrestling fan, and an ex-boxer, I decided that I want to go see Wrestlemania 24. My wife suggested that I go with my cousin’s husband who is just as much of a wrestling fan as I. He is also an ex-wrestler. So we are heading over to Red & Jerry’s to go and watch it.

Before we do that, I need to go to the gym and work on my chest. I have been having great work out days. Largely because I have an awesome partner who pushes me. My Wife. We feed off of each others energy and never give up. It is awesome.

Well, now I need to go eat breakfast and go to the gym.

Good Progress

March 21, 2008

So I am on Week 3 of my Pre-Contest phase of my workout and diet. And all is going great. I am starting to lose some body fat. I now weigh 209 at 16.2% body fat. I know that is isn’t all that much, but considering that I am a diabetic trying to not have simple sugars, I am doing great. I won’t say that it was easy, ’cause it hasn’t been. I have had to carb up several times because my sugars were below what they are suppose to be at. But once they are back to normal, I go straight back to my diet. It has gotten to the point where my doctor has questioned whether or not I should continue with the competition. Whether it is worth it. And my answer is hell yeah! I know that I should listen to my doctor, but I know what to do if I feel that I am putting myself in danger. I will not take it to that point, but I will not give up on my dream.

By way of my workouts and progress in that area, I am doing great. I am lifting heavier than before and I am noticing the muscles that were hidden in some fat. I am loving it and so is my wife.

Well, that is all for now. See ya guys later!

Frustration!!!!

March 10, 2008

I am in my pre-contest phase, but I am having trouble losing the fat. The last week I have gone from 207 at 14% body fat to 211 at 17.4%. I have kept to my diet, yet I have gained weight. I know that it has only been a week, but now I have to really tweak my diet. I will also probably have to bring up my cardio. I currently am doing 30 minutes. So, now it will have to go up to 1 hour, or have to do cardio twice a day.

I will give an update at the end of this week.

Results from my Doctor’s visit

February 21, 2008

As many of you know, I am a type 1 diabetic. I have had to live with this disease for 4 years and it has a tough road to tread. Recently, my blood sugars have been going crazy, even when I take my insulin on a regular basis. I started to lose a lot of weight, going from 200lbs to 190lbs in less than a week, I also was losing my eye sight. I couldn’t figure out why. What really got me worried, and this is pretty embarrassing for me to say but I want to let it be known how serious this disease really is, I lost control of my bladder at night.

Luckily, I have the most caring wife in the world. She started emailing some people from the Barbara Davis Research Center, an exclusive diabetic medical facility, and she got me in immediately. Usually it is a year to year and a half wait in order to be seen. But they thought that I needed to be seen sooner than later. So my appointment was set up for 2-19-08.

The results of the appointment are as follows:

On average, my sugars were at 600, when they are suppose to be between 70-150.

I not only have type 1, but I also have all the complications of a type 2 including insulin resistance. Now, I need to be on injectable and pill insulin.

All this has lit a new flame in me, because now I know how to control my sugars and now I can bulk up and compete . And hopefully win!

Since the appointment, my sugars haven’t gone over 170 and I have gone back up to 200lbs with 13% body fat. I am already seeing the results.

I am thinking about writing an article on this site about how to deal with this type of diabetes and how one with this disease can still make their dreams come true. I am that living proof.

Once again…

February 7, 2008

Once again there are change of plans. It turns out that the house that we were going to rent had serious damage done to it by the last couple of hurricanes that passed through P.R. So…..

This means that we will be staying in Colorado for about a year. And in that time, I am going to compete in two different competitions.

In other news, my second daughter was born on January 24, 2008 at 2:20am. Her name is Lilyana Morgaine Ferrer. She is so beautiful.

Well, until next time!

Change of Plans

January 11, 2008

So, I have decided not to compete in Colorado. I had to make a very hard decision between moving to Puerto Rico and make a better life for myself and family, or stay here and compete. And I decided that we should move. I am planning on competing in Puerto Rico this year and I am still training. It just might be a while before I do compete.

 So here it is.
