Yoga and weights

January 5, 2008

Attended a 3 hour restorative yoga workshop today. It was pretty cool. Trained biceps and chest today in my home gym. I realized I don’t have 20 pound dumb bells (I have 15, 25 and 30). My point being I’m not yet ready for the 25 pounders. I had to recruit hubby to spot me while doing incline bench presses-managed 2 sets of 5. Did 2 sets of 20 reps on the peck deck. I did "cheat sets" of preacher curls with the 25 pounders.  Legs tomorrow.

Cardio sucks

January 4, 2008

Maybe it’s just all the cardio I did preparing for the last figure show, but now, it’s a total turn off!! I’d rather lift weights. I could do that all day! I did back and abs yesterday and a light cardio session. I actually got more sweaty and smelly lifting than doing cardio. It’s just more interesting and more efficient. I know I have to do cardio I’m just whining cause my lats are sore!!!

Happy Birthday to ME!!!

December 15, 2007

23 again!!! Just kidding! I’m proud to say I’m thirty-eight. I’ve been very blessed with good health. I hope to continue to enjoy it by keeping "clean" and living right (with the occasional hot fudge brownie sundae and Mai Tai) everything in moderation. I’ve decided to do another show in March. It just feels weird not training for a show. I think I’ve had enough of a rest. I’m ready for the New Year!!!

Holiday cheer!!!

December 13, 2007

I’ve been binging on carbs since the contest!!! The scale says I’ve gained 5 pounds. I feel like the Pilsbury doughboy. Haven’t been as dedicated to the gym-only weights, no cardio. I promise to do some cardio next week!!! …and cut back on the carbs.

Tomorrow, tomorrow…

November 30, 2007

It’s raining today!! Getting hair and nails done and taking it easy. A little posing practice. Had to re-glue a stone on my suit, used super glue-hope it stays on. I’ll bring some to the show just in case. Tick, tock…

Cheat day recovery a.k.a damage control

November 23, 2007

Okay, what’s done is done. It’s funny how when you eat clean all the time that’s what your body wants. Yesterday was the first time I’ve had sugar in a long while… it seemed like a good idea at the time, LOL! Okay, back to the grind stone. 1 week left. 7 days to train like a freak. I have to admit I’m excited to see it all come together. I have it all planned it my training, my diet, my tanning, my posing practice (Yeah Nancy Georges!), my waxing (youch!), my nails, hair, make up and yes I have scoped out potential places for the after party celebration. I’ve narrowed it down to a nice steak house and the Cheesecake Factory. I’m going to write it HERE, because, I’m superstitious. I’m scheduled to report for jury duty on the 26th. I am going to take my pictures from the last show and the flyers for the upcoming show and beg the judge to at least let me postpone my civic duty. Hopefully , I’ll call in and won’t have to report. I just have this nightmare that I get assigned to this high profile case and get sequestered and can’t work out or do the show! Until I know the facts it’s business as usual! I hear the elliptical calling my name-an extra hour for pumpkin pie?

Countdown…

November 14, 2007

Less than 3 weeks til show time. I’m pretty pleased with my progress so far. Feeling lack of energy from low carb days.

Did legs and abs today.  Diet is going well.

Train like a freak!!

October 2, 2007

It’s on!!! Back from Vegas after seeing the Olympia. It was awesome!! I’m newly inspired. Good thing-since I consumed a good deal of carbs and never set eyes on the fitness center. It was amazing seeing all the athletes there up close and personal!! I felt so unworthy!!! It’s clear how very hard they all work and how dedicated they are and as their reward they got to compete in the Olympia, but they all had to start off somewhere, so, there is hope for my butt!
