Grrrr..Pull Up Posting Revised..

Yes the last post was a great one! I accidentally pushed a button and #@@## it’s there!!

I am so on my way to a lovely full set of pull ups…I did 2 completely unassisted on Thursday and the 2nd one was after an assisted set on the smith machine…the rest of my set was negatives..slowly lowering myself down and of course holding the chin up position for as long as I could.

I am so determined to be the pull up queen!! lol

Great workouts this week although the end of the week is seeing me tired and unable to go to the gym. I am going to break up my leg workouts to quads/hams and butt..so that may give me a little more energy on Friday.

Husband is home for 2 weeks tonight so I will have a spotter!!! and maybe some salads made for me. :)

A Workout Buddy At Last!! - But….

Only 1 day a week..lol. My friend and I are saving time…we meet at the gym every Thursday and have a quick coffee after. It saves me 1/2 a day and we have fun during the workout. Not too much talking because we are both wearing ipods and respect each others time. Nice!

Back and Biceps today, pretty good workout. Attempted Pull ups (on Smith machine) 3 x 8 and deadlifts, then my great single arm db rows, I am up to 12.5 kgs on these!, lat pulldowns, closed grip pulldowns and then some preacher and concretration curls. Wanted to add in the hyperextension but ran out of time. Also did some weighted ab work…I feel I have neglected my abs lately - time to get serious with these.

Played a great game of basketball yesterday with my new Wednesday morning team and I have got my Thursday night training tonight with my old team. I can’t believe what a great cardio session basketball is…I work so hard in the games and training..I wore my heartrate monitor once and was amazed how high my heart rate went…that’s why I have a red face and bathed in sweat after…

The MOST Fantastic Leg Workout

Leg Day today…I was feeling so strong..I knew it was going to be a great one.

Of course the squat rack was empty…lol..and I started, my previous best lift was gone after 2 sets and I surprised myself by squating another 5kgs more than last week. So now I am up to 41kgs (yes! the bar is 11kgs…remember my gym is the tin shed!!) and I easily did 3 x 8. Next week it’s 46kgs!! I can’t wait.

So then on to the leg press, barbell lunges - 1st time…normally I have dbs - easier to maintain good form with barbell IMO, one legged squats and leg curls (another 5kg increase), I finished then because I couldn’t walk without seriously looking like I was drunk.

No cardio after, couldn'’t manage it. Basketball tomorrow morning after my shoulder workout. I am bored stupid with my shoulder routine so I have been looking up some new exercises on bb….

Lifting Is Improving My Basketball!

I am playing such great basketball lately. I think I am playing better than before I left for Russia. In Russia I did not even hold a basketball ball so what has changed!? My fitness and strength is enabling me to play hard and fast and my team are amazed! Yet another benefit of all this…..I think it would be no. 123…lol

It was leg day today but due to my knee being a little sore (nothing serious) I decided to have a chest/tri day instead! Great workout and great lifting. I really enjoyed it all.

My eating was a little off today due running around after my daughter’s swimming carnival and also her impending school camp…it will be better because I’ll be quieter tomorrow.

I Finally Benched My Short Term Goal

Today was the day I attempted a bench press of 40kgs, I have working up to it for months. I know it’s not a lot for men but for me it was a major goal. Just 3 months ago I was only able to bench 20kgs and since being in Australia for the last 3 months I have been going as heavy as I can. Well it’s paid off….40kgs easy!! Next Tuesday I am doing 45kgs!!! lol.

My squat and bench press seem to be neck and neck at the moment…why? I wonder?

Gym was nicely quiet today with only the morning regulars. They are all getting friendly….no problems spotting for me and even a respectful smile when passing. One of them spoke to me on the treadmill!!! Lucky I had my trusty ipod.

The receptionist/personal trainer there is great. She has for weeks been answering my questions/checking my form (when I ask her and generally being so helpful. I feel like I should be paying her……at what point do you think you should be getting a personal training session…I probably ask for help about x 2 week????

Did a fantastic 20m HIIT after the workout and also did some weighted abs….when will I see them? My eating is good esp after the headaches etc from Friday…I am not craving chocolate/sugar much…

Sardines In The Tin Can….

Ahhhh gym on a Monday night….arrrghhhhh I always try and avoid it as much as possible but today I couldn’t get to the gym so off I went for my heavy leg workout…..

40 men in the weight area and ME!!!! Bloody hell where are the women?…I’ll tell you where….the treadmills….all of the cardio equipment was full….so I get on my gloves and plug in the ipod and go into ‘man land’

Just as well it was ‘man land’ because that meant the squat rack was empty..lol…I mean completely empty…YEAH….

I was able to finish ALL my leg workout without waiting once for anything…and I had a great workout….

Of course I had some strange looks…I don’t go normally at night and these regulars hadn’t seen me before.

My fitness is really paying off in my basketball. I had such a great game last night and my coach left me on the entire game. It was such a fast game but I was coping so well with it all….and scored big with lots of rebounds. I have really missed my basketball and team.

 

Finally Cheat Night….Now I Have A Sugar Induced Headache!

Oh this week I have been waiting soooooo long for my cheat night. This week I have been 100% on my clean eating, perfect ratios, not more than 100grams of carbs and lots of water. I am doing so well and my stomach is flatter and I feel good…that is NOT to say that my daughters arm wasn’t looking like a french bread roll the other night….I was carb craving!! She was frightened!!

So today went to my ‘’now friendly" tin shed gym to do my 2nd leg workout of the week. I am enjoying doing this 2nd day of legs because I get to try new things and not worry about going too heavy (I save that for the Monday leg day). I did ATG squats, one leg squats, lunges and lunges, leg press (with feet together and high), curls and extension and of course my 2 calf exercises. I really enjoyed it!

The gym was busy..and I mean busy today. What a difference a day makes, yesterday I was there for 1.5hours by myself!

So tonight I have KFC, m and m’s, and some candy……I feel sick, I have a headache, and I am lightheaded……next week my cheat will be a beer or two…my body doesn’t like sugar anymore..what a shame because I still LOVE it!

Can I do A Pull Up?????

Still feeling flat lately, I think it is the single parenting I am doing at the moment. I would love someone to make the bloody salad for once…I will have to wait until 1st March.

So off to the tin shed for the back workout. My gym doesn’t have a assist pull up machine so I have no idea if I can do a pull up. I need a spotter but am reluctant to ask someone to spot me for pull up’s……it’s a very touchy spot. When my husband was last in town he spotted me and said for the 1st 4 he only had his hands supporting (not pushing) me…..arghhhhhh where is he when I need him!!

Single arm rows up now 2.5kgs…amazing what you can do when you really push yourself. Lat pulldown also up. Did upright rows for the 1st time and enjoyed them. Cable rows were a stuggle after my deadlifts and hyperextensions…I also tried preacher curls and incline DB curls for the 1st time…my biceps are tired…..:)

Only a little cardio as I have basketball training tonight and will be running my heart out..
