FINALLY

Monday, April 30th, 2007

After 3 weeks of sickness (mine and kids)…I am back to the gym. Walked down there tonight, set treadmill on 5% incline and walked/ran 6kms. Was soooooo good! I don’t care that I will be sore tomorrow because it felt great. Loved running with the incline, I could go slower (good for the joints) and still feel a little out of breath, sweating but sort of able to sing along to the ipod.

Walked home and even Moscow didn’t feel so bad!

My diet today was good today, lots of salad and oats this morning. One area of improvement would be the 2 handfuls of M and M’s!!!!!!!!

Educating Myself

Friday, April 27th, 2007

So the last few day, feeling sick etc I have been educating myself eating correctly. Really if I am honest with myself I would say my biggest challenge is not keeping up the exercise (easy becasuse I love it) but getting my eating right. I have always used cardio to burn the calories from my diet which on most days is good but with A LOT of room for improvement. I know I wouldn’t have to do so much cardio and would probably lose quite a bit of fat if I managed my meals properly.

Now is about the time I wish I lived back in Australia or even better America where getting nice, fresh fruit and vegetables would be quite easy but I’m not :( Here in Moscow it takes a very very long time to peel a potatoe or even a carrot. Now, although it is time consuming and really looks quite unappealing you know it is organic, and probably picked a couple of days ago.

So I will make a committment to EAT CLEAN, eat a cheat meal x 1 week, and continue drinking lots of water.

Lets see where this gets me!!!

Squats at Home

Thursday, April 26th, 2007

Today was the 1st day I started to feel better, OMG 3 days on the couch and sleeping! Today if I had a moment of energy I would stand up and do squats, again concretrating on my form.

I haven’t gained any weight, eating less (no exercising) and trying to eat more vitamin C. I am having a pretty big stress attack watching or imagining my hard earned muscle shrinking before my eyes.

Will do some cardio tomorrow and over the weekend and start lifting again on Monday. That is… if everyone in my sickly family (including me!)  could possibly stay well enough for Mummy to go to the gym…pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
eeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Wanna-be?

Wednesday, April 25th, 2007

Really I sound like the woman with the most excuses but I am really sick!!! I can’t believe I caught a bad cold! I am never ever sick!!! Must have been the airport and planes and probably if I admit it..the stress. So today and yesterday I am at home! Actually on the couch!! Can’t remember the last time I was like this.
The good news is that I am still motivated…now just to get back to normal….

Back and about to get back into it

Monday, April 23rd, 2007

Ahh back from the holiday and really we had the worse luck on this holiday that I am questioning whether or not I have aged 100 years. Anyway I won’t go all the way into it execept to say our holiday included sickness x 3, daughter in hospital, ear infections 2 days before flight home, 11 hour wait for delayed faulty plane in Istanbul airport with 2 kids!, and of course lost luggage.

Our holiday did not include gym visits, and cardio!!!!! Arghhhh. Tomorrow I am off to personal trainer Alexsey who will be disappointed that I have not kept it all up. Really I will be the 1st one to admit if I have been making excuses for myself but in this case I can say I really could have done no more than I have done.

Going back to Australia in early July for a visa renewal and really need to feel like I have made a lot of progress. I know I can easily keep it all up there with a gym at my door and the ability to take to the streets to run/walk. Ahhh I can’t wait to run outside again.

Looking foward to tomorrow.

Ahh Turkey Belly!!

Friday, April 13th, 2007

Oh that will teach me a lesson about eating kebabs and enjoying the food! No fear about me gaining any weight yet…I have Turkey belly…lol. Really looked back over the past few days and really haven’t been eating too much, it is hard to know what calories, fat and protein something contains when you are eating out for 3 meals a day. I have been sticking to 3 meals a day with no snacks, and no carbs just while I am away to ensure the whole thing doesn’t get to far out of control. Lots of squats and stomach last night and really concretrated on my form with the squats and squeezing the glutes. Feeling a little too tummy sore to attempt anything tonight but walked lots today.  Sunshine here is wonderful and so is the opportunity to lie on the sunlounge and read a book. My kids are at that great-not having to watch them all the time age!

What a time to Start! What am I thinking?

Thursday, April 12th, 2007

Well what a time to start posting! I am on holidays in Turgeteris Turkey at the moment with no gym, no chance of hard cardio (not advisable to jog on the streets in singlet top here). I have been trying to walk everywhere possible and fit in a many squats, sit ups and push ups as I can. We had a few days in Istanbul and I piggy backed my 6 year old up the hills and stairs in the city (she thought it was fantastic!). We walked kilometres everyday and had a great time.

I am scared to lose all my good work up until now as I have been very focused and worked my *&*#  off. My trainer gave me some great advise before I left which was “don’t eat”, oops that is very hard to do coming from Moscow and coming to a country in which yummy food exists! It has been great because the food here reminds me of the food in Melbourne, Australia where I come from.

So although I fully anticipate to gain a couple of kilos here, I am not going to stress too much and know that I booked my 1st session back before I left to be punished for my sins and kebabs.
