Gained size, Lost body fat!

September 2, 2007

So, I went on this new workout regiment where I wanted to gain some size in my upper body. After two months of working with this regiment I gained 6 pounds of muscle and I dropped .2 percent body fat! I was really impressed; I’m so pleased with this accomplishment, because at first I was very nervous about gaining size, because I didn’t want it to be fat. I was very pleased with the results! I’m still doing this regiment because I want to gain a few more pounds of muscle and then completely just shredd! Can’t wait until that happens! :D

My Beliefs on Motivation

May 13, 2007

The other day I had someone ask me, what makes you want to go to the gym? What drives you? Well, personally, there are several factors that motivate me to stay in shape:

1) Competition- seeing other women that have a wonderful physique doing their daily routine, makes me want to work that much harder to outdo them (no offense to any of the women out there, I know y’all work hard to get what you got! Keep it up, y’all give me the drive to perfection :D ) I have a very competitive spirit; I have never declined a challenge. Ask me to beat you at something, I will do everything in my power to do so. If I don’t win the first time, I will train and train until I claim victory.

2) Insults- Yes, I have been insulted…and let me tell you…it only makes me want to prove my worth that much more. I dated a guy who said I was getting "too big" and that I should stop working out. First off, I’m not big to begin with! But I tell you what, that insult only made me want to work out harder. Did I follow his advise? HECK NO MAN! I don’t change for anyone, you can’t accept me for who I am, TOUGH LUCK. After that, I went to the gym twice as often just to irritate him :P Anyway, point is, insults, definitely motivate me.

3) Compliments- Yes the grass is always greener on the other side. Compliments are defintely good for motivational purposes. Receiving compliments makes me want to keep doing what I’m doing. It’s so cool to hear that someone’s proud of you. I just recently decided that I was going to train for triathlons, I was honestly really scared because I’ve never trained for one before and I didn’t want to mess it up, but a man at the gym today told me that he thought it was incredible that I was so athletic at such a young age and he wished me luck with all my training. Simple yes, but still powerful! I love getting feedback like that! It’s wonderful!

4) Mirrors- I’ve seen this on a lot of profiles that I have viewed on this site, and YES! It is true, seeing yourself make progress with training is the most wonderful feeling next to getting complimented! Seeing the rips and the shreds in your own reflection is definitely motivating! It gives you that drive to maintain what you gained.

5) Attention- Yes I will admit, it’s rather nice getting noticed by the fellas. You can’t lie ladies. You love it when they look at you strut your stuff at the gym, mall, beach, wherever! It’s a good feeling to be secure in your own skin! So ladies, don’t be afriad, flaunt what you got!

Well, I’m sure there’s a lot more things that motivate others, but I think these are the top 5 that really hit it with me. Any others, feel free to add!
