Sugarless Drink Mixes - Pro/ Con?

This week’s question from the "Oletimer" is; what are the pros and cons regarding sugarless drink mixes, i.e. lemonade, grape, etc. These have zero calories and other than probably having an additive that causes cancer in rats, (what doesn’t anymore) is this harmful, beneficial, or neutral  as  part of a bodybuilders diet?  They sure make drinking a gallon of water  a day more  palatable. What say those in the "know"?

Good question…I like the sugar free peach tea myself but wonder the same thing.

I drink them. But usually when I get really close to a comp. I stop or just mix a water bottle at a time.

  3. OldManSkinny Says:

I use them for a "treat." Most of my drinking is just plain water, but when others are sitting down to a bowl of ice cream or a munching on a candy bar, I have a glass of sugar-free pop with lots of ice to chew. That’s maybe once a week.

why do so many people get cancer. cus carcinogens are everywhere. maybe in 20 years studies will show that this one of them. who knows…but why risk it

  5. Oletimer Says:

The carcinogen scare, if there is one, doesn’t bother me in the least. I’m 62 and if the Lord calls me home tomorrow, I’m more than ready. Too many cancer scares from the FDA. "The sky is falling. The sky is falling." Today it’s this and tomorrow it’s that and then it wasn’t either after all. What they need are healthier lab rats!!..lol..No, I was just concerned about the possible catabolic effect the artificial ingredients may have. So, I like em’. Guess I’ll drink um’..
