Where’s The Calories Come from?
Ok, nutrition experts, here’s one for you. Bud Light lists 110 calories per can. 6.6 g. of carb and 0.9 g. of protein. 0 fat. By my calculation, carbs and protein X 4 cal. per g. only comes to 30 accounted for calories. Where does the other 80 unaccounted for calories come from?

Hey you spiked my curiosity! So I looked it up. Alcohol has 7 cal per g so that is where the rest of the calories are coming from! There must be about 11g of alcohol in the beer!

I don’t drink either, but a fiend and I was discussing the calories and as I looked at the can and the facts, I noticed the numbers didn’t compute correctly, so I just became curious. I wrote to the company to ask them. We'’l see if they know or even answer..Thanks for the comment, but I still don’t know.

How could you forget to calculate the alcohol content? Its BEER! In any entry level nutrition class you learn that fat has 9kcal, alcohol has 7kcal, and protien and carbs have 4 kcal each.

So, alcohol is neither a protein, carb, or fat? Is that why they call it "empty" calories? It has no redeming qualities other than fuel for energy or is stored as fat. If it’s stored as fat it has to be a carbon chain member and would therefore have to have a designation of some sort. Or am I totally looking at it wrong?

And I’m not trying to be the ugly duckling, but beer is delicious, it’s probably the biggest vice i have and should probably give it up, but there are worse vices out there to have, right?

I’m not passing judgement on anyone. I just wanted to know where the calories come from. But since we are confessing, I don’t drink, but can’t seem to give up chewing..ughh! I know it’s nasty when someone else does it!!…lol

ethanol cannot be stored, It must by metabolized fully in the liver.
Alcohol is not a very good drink even if your not training. I guess everyone knows that.
