I had an (AT) or Anaerobic Threshold test done this past week. There are several test that can be administered to see where your lactate threshold stands. I for one did the Balke Treadmill Test. The test took about 12 minutes and oh I had forgotten how it felt to do one of those. AT is also known as lactate threshold, where lactic acid begins to accumulate into the blood stream. Having knowledge of where your threshold is, can increase performance in any specific sport , or make anyones training program more efficient. My maxed achieved was at 186 beats per/min. This is where my body just wanted to shut down and collapse.

With this piece of information, I will be able to effectively monitor my training sessions. With a heart rate monitor, I am able to implement interval training, anaerobic endurance, aerobic power, and tap into my TRUE fat burning zone. =) This is a great way to change up work-outs, and keep it interesting by make it harder for your body to adapt to what you are currently doing in your work-out program.

If you don’t know what your AT is, get with your physician and personal trainer to find out. Lets MAXIMIZE your work-outs for those results.

What a great week! I staggered out my cardiovascular work-outs and had some great lifting sessions. In the nutrition departmentI have cleaned up my diet of any junk food. I have been sticking to chicken, tuna, salmon, tilapia, catfish, lean turkey and egg whites. CHO’s I have been implementing brown rice, steel cut oatmeal, brown rice rice cakes, wheat tortillas and sticking to a high fiber diet with flaxseed. I eat plenty of veggies and snack on mainly cottage cheese, celery sticks with all natural peanut butter. I keep my friut intake of strawberries and blueberries in the early morning. My fat intake comes from all natural fats of avocado, and nuts. I keep a 14oz nalgene bottle and drink 9 of those through out the day that equates to a gallon of water. I like eating real food and supplement protein shakes when I actually need to. I absolutely "LOVE" Lean Dessert Protein shakes. What will I ever do with-out it in my oatmeal! And not to mention my coffee… mild/medium black! Cleaning up my diet makes a difference. I have more energy and I feel great through out the day.

I have to say… measuring everything and tracking meals down can be a pain, but to be efficient this is what it takes. With every week that goes by, my meal plan will change as well as my macronutrient in grams. I am living it up now since I have options.

Alright, I stand 15 weeks out for the Red River Competition out in Norman OK. Last night I went all out… pizza and hot wing!!! Holy! Not only that some apple pie with vanilla ice cream for dessert. That will be the last time I eat that. I have cleaned up my diet along with plenty of H2O. First day and I feel so energetic! I had my cardio session early this morning on an empty stomach, lifted in the afternoon then hit up my cardio again to end my day. Great way to start my first day.

It’s time to break through the barriers. I have come to realize that challenges will come up no matter what that will keep me from accomplishing this competition. To keep me on track I will be posting my stats and pictures. In saying so it is GO TIME!!!
