Giving Credit

Saturday, January 17th, 2009

David Henry is one of those guys that may never be fully appreciated for what he has managed to accomplish.  He is a "small" bodybuilder, and for someone of his size he may find it increasingly difficult to compete with other bigger bodybuilders.  But lately I’ve noticed just how much he has achieved, first noted in FLEX magazine.  There was a definite change in his physique that caught my eye, and I just wanted to post a little something to honor his progress.

Bodybuilder David Henry trains back, delts

and I just wanted people to notice the classic style back that he has developed.  Very similar to what Arnold achieved in this picture

Day 25-”Back to Basics”

Tuesday, January 13th, 2009

So today was a shoulder workout that involved pull-ups in the middle of it, which ever so slightly touch the rear delts so its not a complete waste of energy, but that is not why I did them either.

After my typical arm circle warm-up, I continued to warm up with some seated side raises.  I usually get the blood flowing pretty good with these and was excited to get into the push presses that I scheduled for today.  Like my legs, my shoulder strength has rapidly increased since beginning the program and I was able to complete 3 sets of 10 for 135lbs.

Overall, my strength has gone up tremendously in a short time and I look to continue my efforts as I head into the baseball season.

Day 24

Tuesday, January 13th, 2009

My legs have continually gotten stronger since beginning my training in mid December.  Not only that, but the cardio I’ve been doing has helped me from getting "heavy/slow."  I feel more powerful and destructive than ever.  I think mixing it up each workout has been really beneficial as well.

Today’s workout up-ed the endurance factor as well.  My reps stayed above 15 reps for each of my exercises except for my warm-ups.  Also, I’ve noticed that my calves have regained some lost shape and size that was lost from not training legs for the greater part of the semester last year.

Day 23

Tuesday, January 13th, 2009

Today I mixed in some chest work with some back work, while focusing on gaining new maxes in the BB press and the deadlift. I had someone spot me on the bench, and told me I could have probably lifted more than what I did (which was 265lbs).  Then I maxed out with 275lbs on the deadlift, in which I think I could have probably lifted more on that lift as well.  But slow and steady increases are more favorable to me anyway.  I felt ****ing terrible after doing my pull-ups, which I now understand why I do them at the beginning of my workouts.
