Here’s a question for ya…

Sunday, April 6th, 2008

Like the many weird questions they come upon in the TV show Seinfeld (like: Why do the doors in public restrooms never go all the way down to the floor?), I often ponder some of the situations surrounding me. Like for instance this evening, I went to the movies with one of my very dear colleagues and her husband. She always calls me her foster child, so we’re pretty close :) Anywho, this question is about the design of cinemas. Why do they make rows all the way down to 15 feet from the screen? They should have the front row at least 70 feet away from the screen unless they really WANT to make people uncomfortable and nauseous. I asked for the best tickets available and they gave me 3rd row seats. 2½ hours of physical torture!

Anyway, I hope y’all had a great weekend. Stay on top of things and keep on the back rows ;)

Got an early birthday present!

Thursday, April 3rd, 2008

Even though my birthday isn’t until Friday next week, my GF decided to spoil me with a birthday present when I got home from the gym today :)

She gave me this totally awesome Seiko Chronograph watch, and I love it! I’m one lucky dude…

Congrats to Eddie and Debbie (Iron Man Pro 2008)

Sunday, February 17th, 2008

So last night it was time for the finals at the Iron Man Pro show 2008. Since I’m stuck here in Denmark, I obviously couldn’t see the show live, but I did get to see bits and pieces on the Webcast right here on BB.com (so thank you BB.com :)   )

My cyberspace mate Eddie Abbew placed 7th in a very tuff line-up. Last year he placed 3rd, so I guess that’s kind of a set-back, but it was some very hard and heavy competition he was up against, amongst others the winner of this years show Phil Heath who has done some already legendary gains during the past year.

BodySpace’s own Debbie Bell also competed last night at the NPC show and placed 5th, which she can be very proud of. So a HUGE congrats to Deb :)

The fetching cat

Thursday, February 7th, 2008

Now, this has absolutely nothing to do with training! However, I decided to share this pointless info with you guys :)

I have two cats - both cats have the characteristics of a dog! One cat snatches the mail when the mailman pushes the mail thru the door. It grabs the mail and hides it all around the house. Sometimes I find mail hidden in a box or under the bed that has been lying there for days or weeks. The other cat is in love with this little, green rubber ball. The cat wants you to toss the ball thru the living room, so she can run after the ball, wrestle it, take the ball in the mouth and return it to you, so you can throw the ball again.

A new CW is born.

Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008

I’m proud to announce that a new CW (compliment whore) has been born into "the circle"! Today at training a couple of guys (both competitive - one won his class last year) said to me: "Wow! You really lost some weight, dude! V-taper starting to show and everything…" - I just stood there and showered myself with the compliments! LOL Seriously, it was really nice to hear and get some recognition. This gives me even more motivation and dedication to keep shredding.

On another note, I’ve been super busy lately with work and all, and I haven’t had much time to write about this and that here in my Blog. And I’m sorry if I’ve neglected some of you great guys and gals from my friends list, but I will do everything I can to get updated on your profile once or twice this week. You guys are in my thoughts when I’m at the gym pounding the weights!

Rock on!!! :)

Dennis James, leg workout from hell and pussyfied gym vol. II

Saturday, January 12th, 2008

Okay, so this Blog is a little of this and that!

Yesterday I trained legs with a gym buddy who’s a competitive bodybuilder. Now, this guy doesn’t train that heavy even though he has way better legs than I do - however, he does train at an insane tempo and with mile high reps… He really toasted my legs! Today I don’t have DOMS - what I have is the feeling that I have just completed my leg workout even though it was like 18 hours ago! We literally went from set to set with a: You go, I go, you go, I go tempo… Grueling!

Dennis James is in Copenhagen at the moment and training at my gym. He and the owner of the gym go way back. Tomorrow he’s giving a seminar at my gym - I haven’t really decided yet whether to go or not. I’d like to see him, but on the other hand I know he won’t have much to tell that I haven’t heard a hundred times before! So if I go, it will only to be in awe of his mighty physique.

In my old Blog I made a post called "My gym has been pussyfied", which was the story about my gym going from a hardcore bodybuilding environment to a regular fitness location - still having heavy weights and good machines but with soft music from the speakers, no flexing in mirrors, no bodybuilding posters on the walls, no bodybuilding videos on the TV screens etc. Now the gym has taken further steps to become even worse! Today they are throwing an open house day to attract new members. When I went there this morning to do my cardio, they were busy making the place look good. The first thing the new members will see is a GIANT bowl of candy standing on the counter at the reception. Then right before you go into the weight room, you will be passing a playground where they have set up video games … and even more candy! What the hell is the deal here? They try to get new members AND keeping them fat? I mean I love candy as much as the next guy, but I sure as hell don’t expect to find it nor gorge it at my gym.

I know a lot of my good friends here on this site swear by home gyms, but living in an apartment and having a stationary bike in the living room already taking up too much space, that’s not really an option for me. So for now I’ll have to endure a little longer and blow off some steam in my Blog once in a while ;)

A fantastic weekend to you all… Today I will treat myself to some extra food and some sweets … yummi! :)

Dropping weight

Sunday, January 6th, 2008

Yesterday was Saturday so I was allowed to eat a bit more calories than on other days. Of course I have to eat good, clean foods however, in order to not get sick and tired of dieting I allow myself a bit of sweets on Saturdays so I have something to look forward to.

I bought a new digital weight yesterday so I can check my bodyweight each morning when I get up. My weight has already dropped from 218 to 213 lbs. This fast rate won’t continue of course - most of the weight reduction is probably due to the water loss. I don’t plan on getting too skinny either … it is important to me that NB still finds me attractive and not just another paperdoll! LMAO

No training today, but tomorrow I will hit chest and biceps hard.

New year + 1st day on diet = New Blog

Wednesday, January 2nd, 2008

In my previous Blog I’ve gotten some great answers from all my good friends here on BB.com - however, since I’ve started dieting from today and we’ve just opened the page of 2008, I thought it would be a good time for a fresh start!

As a kid and well into my 20’s I was always skinny, and when I started working out I had a tuff time putting on size and muscle. So I taught myself how to eat good and plenty in order to gain mass and weight. It wasn’t all clean eating - I drank LOTS of gainers and experimented a lot with inventing my own gaining formulas. So this isn’t my first diet per se - but it’s my very first diet EVER trying to shred off fat … and I’ve been looking forward to this day for a long time :)

It’s not that I think I’m fat or plan on entering a contest, but I’ve become older and as people become older they tend to get fat storages on the least sexy areas! lol Also my muscles are a bit too soft for my liking, so now I’m on a mission to shred some fat of my belly and get a leaner and harder look all over my body.

My diet consists of 6 days eating 6 meals with a total of app. 2,700 kcal. The 7th day (Saturdays) will be a little higher on the calories … app. 3,300 kcal and not as clean as the other 6 days. The 6 meals are spread evenly over the course of the day with a meal each 2½-3 hours.

My training won’t differ much except for some lighter weights due to the decrease in energy levels. I will keep doing my daily morning cardio before breakfast (usually power walking for 20-30 minutes). I will be updating my Blog daily writing about my meals, my training and of course life’s "this and that’s" :) I know I’ve been a little quiet lately, which some of you have noticed, but that’s all about to change now.

I will have some pictures taken sometime this week and continue taking pictures during my diet, so I have something visible proof of progress … hopefully LOL

I hope all you wonderful people had a great New Year’s and that you are ready and set to kick some serious butt in the gyms around the World! ;)
