Job and training (and everything in between)
Well, here I go again… Abandoning all my good fellahs and fly girls here on BodySpace.
It’s been a crazy week this past week. Like I wrote a couple of months ago, I just got in to management at my job and now I’ve tried just about all in my new position. The first month and a half was just about getting comfortable with everybody going from being a colleague and just one of the guys to all of a sudden being the boss. That’s a transition where you have to tread carefully, but I made it good and I made it snappy pappy
But then a couple of weeks ago, we had to realize that we didn’t make enough dough … we had to let someone go. So last Wednesday I had to give two of my employees the boot. Even though there was no question who I’d have to pick, it’s not funny taking someone’s job away from them. Both of them girl and both of them started crying. Me no liky!
Workouts are going great. I’m not putting them in my workout tracker because of time and because I’m not out to set any new records at the moment. I’m training fairly "heavy" but I’m going more for the feeling rather than PR’s right now.
BTW what is heavy? What might be heavy for me is probably not heavy for you and vice versa. Is heavy 5 reps or 12 reps? It all depends… For me heavy is going for less that 15 reps and with a close to 100 % intensity. So I’d much rather talk intensity in workouts rather than light/heavy. I think intensity is the key…
I’ve always thought that only retards could hurt themselves doing leg presses - well people, I’m a retard! LOL I don’t know how I did it, but somehow I managed to strain my big toe while doing leg presses yesterday, and I only felt it after my set was done and I had to stand up.
That’s it for me today. I’ll be trying to make my rounds today and see how y’all are doing
Be easy everybody and have a nice Sunday.

Your big toe?
How do you make a weird-crunched-up-quizzical expression on one of those ascii smiley faces?
8-& or 8o/ or maybe !>(
Wishing you a speedy recovery, Nic.
I think your big toe injured itself on purpose to repent for making those two office slackers cry.
Seriously, you are running the office well and those two ladies will move on to something they will perhaps like even more. (Doubtful though, isn’t it?)
Have a great weekend!
P.S. In other news: "Error: security code did not match the image."
That is a lie! I double-checked before I clicked on "Submit Comment". I had it RIGHT! Lies, lies, lies!

Your big toe!??? You strained your big toe doing leg press???? ROFLMFAO!! OMG Nic…how did you strain your big toe?? Your not supposed to do leg press on your toes!! *shakes and scratches head*
O.k. so since I have been bugging you to blog…i’m glad to see you back at it!! Sorry it was such a stressful week though! There is definatly a fine line that has to be drawn when you move into management! I’m sure my boss thinks that too…cause I’m also her trainer! lmao….she makes it tough on me…I make her workout harder *evil grin*. Actually, she is such a sweetie she is like family!
But I know that does make it a challenge. And she writes me little notes and leaves them for me if i’m slacking…its too cute!
AND…when i’m slacking…usually cause i’m on here….so i’m just gonna blame you guys! lol

Sucks having to let people go. Sounds like you have earned your co-workers respect. Not easily done these days. I give you props my friend!

O.o Really? I can understand hurting your toe on, say, standing calf raises, or even calf raises on the leg press…. but SERIOUSLY?!? LOL Ok, sorry to laugh…maybe not
Good to hear you’re handling management well. Keep up the great work (minus straining your big toe LOL)

LMAO at big toe… I know it probably hurts, but that’s freakin hilarious… it reminds me when I wake up in the middle of the night with awkward pain in my toes, and they’re all scrunched up funny (usually after long runs and I’m dehydrated
).
I don’t doubt that you’d be a cool boss, though I’m sorry to hear about the layoffs… hopefully the economy will pick up soon!! So awesome to hear from you again, my friend, and I hope the big toe feels better soon!! I usually kiss boo-boos to make it feel better, but yeah, I’m gonna refrain!! j/k
