Training and a bit of fun…

My days of rest are over - for now anyway! I went back to the gym today, and did my DC-thingy. It was great to be able to lift hard and heavy again :) I’ve been trying to update my Workout Tracker for the past couple of hours, but the darn thing never seems to work. God, I’m so tired of all the bugs on this site. But what the heck - it’s a great site with lots of fun and inspirational people and we get it all for free … so who am I to complain?! :)

So the past week or so my training has been moderate to none. My body has been feeling tired, so I gave it a little R&R.

Next Monday I will begin training again full steam! Still lovin’ the DC training style.

I read in Kat’s Blog that she had given in to her salt cravings the other night, and when she woke up, she was totally swollen like a prize winning pumpkin. Anyway, that story reminded me of a video I once saw, so I wanted to dedicate it to her. But I can’t seem to find it - dang!

So instead I’ll give you another funny vid (a word of caution - there will be explicit lyrics) ;)

The downside to changing gym

All in all I’m still pretty happy about my "new" gym. However, now that I’ve been there a few days, I’ve begun to notice some of the downsides.

First of all I miss some decent hamstring equipment. They do have a standing leg curl machine and a lying leg curl machine, but both machines are old and worn. Both of them have chains that add a substantial amount of resistance, so the amount of weight being pulled is very inaccurate.

Second of all getting used to the new machines and equipment takes a little time, so I can’t just throw on the same amount of weight that I used in my old gym.

I think I’ll take some time off from the gym next week, only going there a couple of times during that week doing some light workout and then hit the iron with a vengeance on a new routine (but still the DC training)!

No pink dumbbells! LOL

Well, like I wrote in my Blog yesterday I had decided to change gym.

So after work I went to this gym called Body Shape. This used to be a hardcore gym with big bodybuilders and strongmen training there. The past few years they lost many of the members making it less hardcore and actually a quite boring gym. Since then the place has gotten a new owner who has spiced things up a bit, making it more attractive to someone like me :) Loud music bangin’ from the speakers, nice and clean yet with a dimmed light so you get the sense of being in a true iron dungeon.

There are no pink dumbbells there - thank God! NinjaBill and Steph would be on my case forever if that was the case lmao

Dumbbells range from 4 lbs to 132 lbs and a single pair of 155’s. Machines are all made by Hammer Strength.

The only negative thing to say about the place is, that it’s fairly small. But if last night’s attendance is average, then there’s no problem at all!

Like I mentioned yesterday I’ve been a member of that gym some years ago. Some of the members from back then are still there, and they gave me a warm and hearty welcome. Nice to feel like coming home and yet still everything is new :)

Changing gym

I’ve been bitchin’ about my gym before, so now I’ve decided to make a change and stop the bithcin’.

One obvious problem with my current gym has been that it has gone from being the best and most hardcore gym in town to being a mainstream commercial gym losing dozens of loyal members.

Then there was an incident at the gym a couple of days ago. My girlfriend’s ex boyfriend confronted my in the locker room and started whining loudly about how I had ruined his life by going out with his ex. The locker room was full of people I know, but there was dead silent while the argument was on. I felt very uncomfortable and embarrassed. I’m not afraid of the guy, but I didn’t like arguing over a girl in front of people I know.

So after a day of thought I realized I had 2 options. I could ignore the bastard or confronted him again, possibly ending up in a fight, but since I’m a non-violent person (unless forced into the situation) that’s not really an option, or I could find another place to work out.

So I decided the latter. I don’t need the trouble and beef - fighting over chicks is stupid! And it’s not that great a gym anyway.

So today, after work, I’m gonna join one of my old gyms. Since I’ve been there they’ve renovated the place and bought new, Hammer Strength machines. So I’m really looking forward to this change :)
