Going to the gym @ lunch…half way through week 4. Feeling good and seeing small results. I’m ready to be ripped and I’m taking it up a notch today. Going to do my upper workout that I feel comfy and confident with and really push it - summer’s coming and I’m going to be looking GOOD and feeling confident. WOOP WOOP!

Did my lower body workout yesterday. I think I may be doing something wrong when I do my leg curl. I have corrected myself on some of the machines because I was getting strains in joints instead of muscles. I don’t know how to correct this one though….Behind my knees on the very, very top of my calf feels strained. I know my hamstrings should be sore, not those! Any suggestions on how I can fix this…???

Something has happened in that last few days. I’ve been staring (impatiently) in the mirror just SEARCHING for some improvement in my body after my 3.5 weeks. Early - I know, I know. But still, you can’t blame me for trying. As I was getting supper ready last night, putting plates on the table, in my peripheral vision I saw a bulge. I stopped and stared at my arm, stretched out and straining with the bowl in my hand hovering over the table top. Then I looked up at the light and thought "must be the lighting". I put the bowl down, in a bit of a panic and said I had to use the washroom and promptly sped walk the bathroom. I stood in front of the mirror, put both my arms parallel to the floor, raised my wrists so my forearms were parallel to my body and clenched my fists into the tighest little fists you’ve ever seen. Then, BEHOLD - I had TWO bulges (small ones, but none the less bulges) in place of where a scrawny flat arm used to be. Could those be MY biceps??? THEY ARE!! I ran out to kitchen and stood in the most pathetic body building pose you have ever seen and yelled at my BF "LOOK AT THESE FRIGGEN PIPES!!!" LOL, I am so excited. I have never had any definition in my arms. Oh, I am BEYOND hooked

So - here I am. Starting off week #4 in my fitness life and loving it. Being a tiny bit impatient with my results but I can see very tiny differences and even if I couldn’t see those - the changes from within would be enough for me to trudge my ass to the gym anyway.
My boyfriend is in pretty good shape. Hasn’t done a lick of exersise in the 3.5 yrs we’ve been together but was in tip top shape before my time. So, he still looks good and has muscle definition (jerk-lol), plus he’s an all around active guy - very supportive of my fitness goals too. Well, he came home yesterday with P90X and told me that my recent take on fitness has inspired him to get back into the shape he was previously in. What a great way to start out week #4….sometimes it’s the small things that drive you towards the big things.

Last workout day of the week, it was legs. Killed them on Tuesday, and they felt great today - no soreness of stiffness. So I was really looking forward to another great session. Firstly - I only have a short hour for my workout at lunch, and I had a late start. So I only did about 12min interval on the eliptical. And then for all the leg machines I did drop sets - I really like them But, for some reason I just didn’t seem to have the power/jam/drive that I’ve had the last three weeks. Don’t get me wrong, I pushed as hard as I could it just didn’t seem like I had a lot of power to do the pushing!
So, I’m chalking it up to working hard for the past 3 weeks, 5days a week at the gym and I was just plain TIRED. I have all weekend to rest up and let my muscle recover (my arms are so sore today) and then get back at it Monday. OH - and try and stay clean over the weekend….seems like such a waist of a hardworking week to blow it on the weekend…..hmmm, I think I MAY be catching onto this - LOL!

So, I’m halfway through my 3rd week. Eating faithfully clean on the weekdays and letting slip slightly on the weekneds Easing my way into it though, I don’t want to drive myself crazy. Mostly slipped with the booze, lol! I’ll get it down though - it’s not a problem since I enjoy eating clean!
I’m doing lots of cardio - started out with 10min straight on eliptical before weight training and now I’m doing 15min intervals the last half of week 2 and first half of week 3. ALSO with the last Wednesday 30min interval on eliptical and yesterday 40min interval on eliptical.
And of course weight training 4days a week alternating upper and lower days. Upped my weights and rest between sets this past week. Was doing a Pyramid style weight thing (sorry for my lack of lingo…it’ll come) but my gym partner (mother in law and former 90’s gym bunny queen) told me to just to do a drop set approach for the fastest results. So I’ve been doing that the last 3days. And I do like it better - I can feel it more.
Very small results thus far though. I can see a litte difference in my hips and even maybe a little in the stomack. Should I be more patient??? I’m taking a multi-vitamin right now and sometimes use whey protien as a meal replacement. We live 1.5hrs away from our supplement store so I’ll be adding those in ASAP….thinking of trying Xedrine for some faster results.
Comments, suggestions, advice = WELCOME!

I’ve been trying to hold off with my shopping and wait until I had reached or came pretty close to my goals. This way, it would serve as a ‘reward’ for my hard work. Anyway, I just happened to stumble (while digging through a pile - lol) apon some half priced pairs of Buffalo jeans. So I grabbed a couple sizes…a 29 fitting really good (my usual size) but had a little gappage around the small of my back since my waist is small and I carry my extra weight in my butt and legs. So I tried on the 28s and they fit, very snug. Just a little too snug to wear but almost fit better then bigger size since they’re didn’t have that gap - they’re just tight all around.
So I thought to myself "I just have to get these $118 jeans on for $55 - I would be kicking myself in the ass all day if I don’t" But was also thinking "You’ve made rules for yourself and you have to be disiplined in ALL areas of your life to succeed with even just one area". So I bought them….in the smaller size. I still can’t wear but BY DAMN do I want to now that they’re in my closet!! It’s just a little extra motivation to loose the little bit of weight I need to and tighten everything up to be able to look awesome in those jeans. I’m loving it! I am working out HARD all week )))
CHEERS!

Phenomenal Woman by Maya Angelou
Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I’m not cute or built to suit a fashion model’s size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I’m telling lies.
I say,
It’s in the reach of my arms
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.
I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please,
And to a man,
The fellows stand or
Fall down on their knees.
Then they swarm around me,
A hive of honey bees.
I say,
It’s the fire in my eyes,
And the flash of my teeth,
The swing in my waist,
And the joy in my feet.
I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.
Men themselves have wondered
What they see in me.
They try so much
But they can’t touch
My inner mystery.
When I try to show them
They say they still can’t see.
I say,
It’s in the arch of my back,
The sun of my smile,
The ride of my breasts,
The grace of my style.
I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.
Now you understand
Just why my head’s not bowed.
I don’t shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud.
When you see me passing
It ought to make you proud.
I say,
It’s in the click of my heels,
The bend of my hair,
the palm of my hand,
The need of my care,
‘Cause I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.

Okay - second blog 2day but I need a vent about this one!
So, off to the gym I go - all happy and motivated. Did my 15min of my first HIT Cadio ever (yowza!) and then headed to the weight room, which was full of guys today. Being a girl that’s new to this whole weight lifting thing, let me tell you - it can be intimidating with a room full of men! BUT, it’s been great so far…I just zone out, concentrate on my breathing, counting and muscles I’m using. I have yet to even notice anyone else is there, unless it’s a friendly smile in passing (I actually had to ask a small little guy who looked about 15 to help me one time b/c I was unsure how to adjust one of the machines - we’re friends now and share a little laugh about his young age and my in-expeirence, quite the pair - lol!)……UNTIL TODAY!!! This huge guy, in his early 30’s I’d say and in good shape, comes into the weight room. He starts talking to the girl that works there (LOUDLY, very LOUDLY) about how this one girl is obsessed with him and he went on a date with "young, smoking hot thing" and blah blah blah, on and on. Then he preceeds to start lift his weights and looks over at me until I look at him and says "these will be screams and moans of pleasure not pain"…with a wink of course. You really should have heard the noises coming out of this guy…. Then he introduces himself to another guy there and tells him more about some hot girl and THEN answers his phone in the weight room and sets up a lunch date. So I have to walk past them as they’re sitting chatting to get a ball to do my squats. He didn’t know I was within earshot and said to the guy "is that your girlfriend?" obviously the guys says "no" and then Mr Big Shot says "She keeps smiling at me" - believe me, I was NOT even looking in his direction! So I come back into the room do my thing with the ball and then head onto another machine where he preceeds to come over and give me "tips" on how to use it - going as far to touch my hip AND the small of my back!!!! I was stunned, I don’t think I even said a word, I just stared at him with a blank look on my face.
The gym I go to is very small, and he is very loud. Obviously wanting everyone there to hear him. I can only hope this guy isn’t there EVERY lunch now… :’(
