Starting over…

March 16, 2009

So due to my shoulder injury I haven’t been able to lift like I want to for the past few weeks. I have however, dedicated more effort to cardio and diet, which has given me some good results. Today though, begins the process of rebuilding what I had before the injury. I’m going to get back on track with a routine and log my workouts like I was before. I may not be lifting as heavy as I was, but I think it will help me to put my routine back in effect. Besides, by starting over with lighter weight I can work on form and feeling the muscles work. Not to mention I won’t make this injury any worse than it already is. So let the games begin.

injury

March 1, 2009

So I recently suffered a shoulder injury about a week ago. I’ve not been able to workout since and I’ve been very upset about it. Today I started doing some cardio again so I can maintain or maybe even lose a bit more weight until I can weight train again. The good thing about this injury is that I’ve had to focus more on my diet. Hopefully I can get that dialed in right so when I do start lifting again, my gains will come quicker. Until then, I do what I can to keep what I have.

Workout Interuptions

February 14, 2009

So I’m sure we’ve all been exposed to a situation when we are really into a workout. I mean super focused and intense, only to have something come along and interupt us. Now normally it’s a person we know, or maybe someone we don’t know. But we can usually excuse ourselves from the situation to get back to our workouts within moments. Well here in Iraq, I’ve found an interuption I can’t excuse myself from. A rocket attack from the bad guys! I experienced my first attack during my workout yesterday. I was not happy to be interupted! I tell you all now, those bad guys do not want me to find them! Interupting my workouts is not a very smart thing. Especially not when I have weapons!

Deployment

February 3, 2009

So I recently began a 12 month deployment to Iraq. I’m not happy about being deployed, but on the other hand it gives me the opportunity to put the effort into my training that has been lacking. There is a lot of down time here, and many guys in my unit talk about how they get huge while here. I’ve already got some decent size on my frame, so I’m hoping I can get cut. The heat will surely help. I think what I need to do is get back to doing cardio twice a day. I found that was a great fat melter for me. I’m going to work on putting on some muscle in body parts I feel are lagging, but mainly I will strive to get lean. I have no reason not to finally find my abs. The food service here provides enough clean foods that there really is no excuse. Hopefully I can get to where I want to be, then take the habits I develop here and continue them when I end up coming back to the United States.

Fitness is now my mission.

November 2, 2008

So my training has taken a different direction over the last few months. Back in February I joined the U.S. Army. Since then I have had a hard time training like I used to. For eight months I was only doing Army style training. Now I’ve completed my initial training and will be able to resume a more regimented weight training plan. I will still have to do Army physical fitness, but I figure it will only further benefit my goals in the weight room. The overall goal is just an excellent level of fitness to remain eady to do my job with the Army. Secondly, I’m going to resume my pursuit of a competition physique. I’ve put on some more size since being in the Army, so now I’m going to concentrate on getting lean and developing some serious definition. Any advice on reaching this goal sooner I’m all ears!

2008

January 2, 2008

So it’s a new year, and I’ve decided on a path I want to take with my training. Until now, I’ve been lifting heavy and doing a lot of cardio in hopes of losing fat while gaining muscle. Hasn’t worked like I hoped. So I took Christmas week off to let myself rest and recharge. During the week off I thought a lot about how to tackle my training this year. I’ve decided I’m gonna work on getting to the level of leanness that I want to achieve. I’m going to lean down to see the muscle I have. Then I’m going to begin to build up areas that are under-developed. I figure it’d be easier to see what needs development, then to just build it all at the same rate. Plus, it’ll add to the aesthetic appeal of my physique. Woohoo! Wish me luck. Happy New Year everyone!
