well… I got sick, couldnt eat and certainly couldnt work out… IT REALLY SUCKED.  But I am back to the gym today.  Wish me luck!

PUMPED!!!!!

When I look at my progress from the beginning of the year to today, I AM PUMPED!  My workout partner and I are having incredible workouts!  Yesterday was chest, I ate correctly throughout the day and WHAT A DIFFERENCE THAT MAKES!!!

Tonight is bis/tris and I am also eating very well today!… I am hoping to have the best arm workout EVER today!  I AM PUMPED…and cant wait to GET THE PUMP!

Keeping up with the current pace, I cant wait to see how I look next month, by May 6 for the final photos, AND in 6 months. 

I have a secret goal, to compete in an NGA competition, probably by June 2010 and DEFINATELY November 2010 !!!!!  Guess it’s not a secret anymore!!!!!

Dont ya hate doing legs?????

OK, so a few years ago, I twisted my knee and ended up having surgery.  Since then, I was always afraid to do legs.  This machine didnt feel right, that machine didnt feel right and there was NO WAY I was doing squats…NOPE!  Since I signed up for the MuscleTech contest, I KNEW that I had to work legs… and of course I am still hesitant.  But ya know, I guess I never really worked legs out correctly. 

What I am doing now is not really worrying about how much weight I am doing on the leg extensions, but the correct form.  (I guess my form was never really good on legs) I am lowering the weight slowly and in a controlled manner.  I am having NO KNEE PAIN!  And the next day, my quads are burning.  OH, if I only would have been doing that from the beginning.

I was talking with a friend the other day who started the conversation by saying, "WOW, you are looking really good.. you are obviously working out!"  And then he was asking me about my arm routine.  He was jealous because he claims to need to do heavy weights to get a good pump.  I questioned him about his form, and if he is just letting the weights fall to his side OR slowly lowering the weight and getting the benefit from the "negative rep".  He is revisiting his workout!!

Funny thing is that I never really thought of myself as a big guy.  There are certainly much bigger and ripped guys at the gym.  But just yesterday 3 different people at work commented to me on how good THEY think I look.  I guess I am my own worst critic.  There is almost ALWAYS room to grow.  But I am happy that they took the time to talk to me.  It made me feel really good.  And I had a GREAT leg workout! 

I had the best chest workout EVER!…..

My workout partner and I did chest yesterday after work.  He was trying to motivate me, but had a not-so-good day at work so he was a little down.  I tried to lift his spirits by telling him jokes and such, but encouraged him to spot me when I needed it, to pay attention to me!  and he did! 

We stareted with the regular hammer strength bench machine and all was going pretty good.  (all weights below is the amount on each side of the machine,OBVIOUSLY!) 15×55, 15×65, 12×75, 10×75, I was happy with that! Next up was the incline hammer strength bench machine, 15×55, 15×65, 15×75, very good.  Then we did the Pec Dec machine, 15×120, 15×135, 15×140, again, very happy with that!  He has a slight shoulder injury so he doesnt like to do the decline bench press. 

He went off to cardio, and I decided to do some incline dumbbell presses.  First set, unimpressive 15×30. LOL!

As usual, when big guys are working out around me, I watch how they are doing the reps, as a reminder.  This was the case today.  This motivated me even more.  I put the 30’s back and did 15×40.  Excited, I reminded myself; to get bigger you need to lift bigger.  So I put the 40’s back and went for 50’s!  I did 12×50 !!!!! YESSSS!!!  I finished it off with the 40’s, completing 12 reps.

I WAS PUMPED!!!!!

My last exercise was the hammer strength decline bench.  I had seen the guy I motivated myself by doing incline dumbbell presses earlier doing decline bench presses and thought WOW, he is MUCH bigger than me everywhere and he did 45, then 90, then 115, then 125 on each side.  I started with 15×55, then went to 15×70 and was still feeling very good (and surprised because of everything else I had done earlier) and finished it off with 12×90!!! What a great workout I had.  As I stood from the machine to put the weights back on the rack.  There he was, my motivation, behind me finishing up his chest workout.  He gave me a wink, as if to say Great Job! 

I WAS PUMPED!!!!!!

HERE WE GO…….

OK.. so I didnt get around to starting the MuscleTech contest at the beginning of the year as I had planned.  I ended up getting jury duty notice for 1/05/09.  The case I was pre-chosen for had 60 perspective jurors.  It took them 2 days to choose the jury…it was a murder and drug trafficking case.  I was NOT chosen.  Thank GOD!  Anyway, half of the people I was around those 2 days had some degrees of colds…and I catch colds very easily.  So you guessed it, I was sick for the rest of the week.  Couldnt even go to the gym! 

I started working out with my partner, but never got around to buying more MuscleTech products, as I had just gotten some in December.  So, finally on 1/26/09 I ordered more Cell Tech and the HardCore MuscleBuilding Stack.  The products came 1/29/09.  I bought the USA Today newspaper 1/30/09 and will be taking photos as soon as I get home from work and I will post them over the weekend.

Right now, I am following the workout and diet plan which came with the HardCore Shredded Stack.  I am going to Key West and would llike to look real good when I get there.  Leaving for the Keys on 2/13/09.  I am trying to do 30 min of cardio after each workout and a few miles of biking over the weekend at the beach in Ft. Lauderdale!  (mental note…..NO ICE CREAM!)

After I come back from the long weekend getaway, I am going to follow the diet/exercise program which came with the Hardcore MuscleBuilding Stack.

I havent been this excited since I hired a personal trainer!  HERE WE GO……

….oh, and GO STEELERS !!!!!!!!!

DAY 2 of 21 day diet….

I had an EXCELLENT workout…I really pushed myself more than I have in a long time and it felt GREAT.  Funny how if you you invest money in supplements, which can be a bit pricey, how it motivates you to push yourself more in the gym!!!!! 

 As I said yesterday, breakfast was CRAZY, it was entirely too much food for me to eat.  For dinner, I was supposed to eat 2 6oz chicken breasts along with steamed brown rice.  Well, I could  only eat 1 chicken breast.  I was supposed to have another protein shake and 4 stalks of celery (YUMMY?!?!?) around 9 pm, but I was so full, I actually felt sick and dizzy.  Probably from the Hydroxycut pills, as I had heard from some friends who just tried Hydroxycut that they got lightheaded from taking them. 

So, in the end, I am going to modify the diet slightly.  As I said before, I am not 200 lbs.  and I know that it is too much food for me.  But I will not eliminate too much. 

Tonight’s workout is back and abs.  I am going into the gym with a positive attitude and will have an awesome workout again…..and even though the manual does not say anything about cardio, I will do at least 15 minutes as my goal is to gain AND get shredded.

DAY 2 of 21 day diet….

21 Day Muscletech Hardcore Shredded Diet Begins

Today I started following the program!  I have a detailed time line, day by day, with the times I need to eat, how much and also the supplements to take and when.

BREAKFAST was CRAZY…the diet says it is a sample for a 200 lb bodybuilder.  I am 187, so I am thinking it is OK to not eat all that oatmeal!  It’s actually enough for 2 days!!!!!  Anyway, today is chest day, right after work!  I CANT WAIT!!!!!

21 Day Muscletech Hardcore Shredded Diet Begins

Today I started following the program!  I have a detailed time line, day by day, with the times I need to eat, how much and also the supplements to take and when.
